Problems started when I couldn't complete ScanDisk because of 'physical corruption' on the hard disk and an 'unidentified error' message that kept popping up too. They escalated when I ran ChckDsk and found TONS of unreadable file segments. They're REALLY bad now; every time read failure I try to start my computer it says that SMART found that a crash is imminent and I need to REPLACE my hard disk! Then it takes forever for my computer to start and I ran the Hard Disk Self Test (like it said on the HP tech support site) and before it even finished, it failed. What happened?! I swear, I don't throw my laptop around or anything! Did I cause the problem, or was my computer defective to begin with? read failure error And is there anything I can do besides replace the hard disk? I have the warranty still but it sucks having to send it out and wait forever to get it back. :-( ~Gabrielle} 2 3/22/2006 (6:56 pm) by Gabrielle Gabrielle (2 Posts) I got my computer (Compaq Presario 2000V with Windows XP) in August and already I've re-installed Windows three times after wiping it clean and whatnot.
