Run-Time Error '5': Invalid Procedure Call or Argument I am referencing the "MSWord 10 Object Library" and sometimes this error occurs at some point after the application has opened MSWord 2002. However, this app has referenced the MSWord 10 Object Library for years, and this error just started occurring in the last few months. I am assuming I have introduced a bug somewhere, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2454671/what-causes-vb6-run-time-error-5-invalid-procedure-call-or-argument but no idea what might be causing it. The error does not occur very often and cannot be reproduced by a user when I am standing there. The error forces the app to totally shut down. At the top of the sub that has problems put On Error GoTo MyErrorHandler and then at the bottom put On Error Goto 0 Exit Sub MyErrorHandler: MsgBox "Error " & Err.Number & " (" & Err.Description & ") at line " & Erl Rather than using a MsgBox as I have here consider writing down to a file instead. Also for Erl to work correctly considering numbering each of

Run-time error '5':
Invalid procedure call or argument
Why is this happening and how do I fix it? Solution: Calling SetFocus on runtime error a disabled control always generates an error of this type. This error also happens if the control is not yet visible, and you try to set focus to it. If you are trying to set this in a Form_Load() event, try moving the function call to an event when the form becomes visible, like Form_GotFocus(). You can also call vb6 runtime error Form.Show before setting the focus on any control. This is not a bug. This error also occurs with the standard Visual Basic 6.0 controls and is by design. For more information, refer to the Microsoft Knowledge Base article linked below. Note: Measurement Studio no longer provides active support for Visual Studio 6.0, Visual Studio 2003, and Visual C++ MFC. If you want to continue building or developing applications using these legacy environments/languages, you can use the NI Measurement Studio for Legacy Environments/Languages product, which includes support for these products and compatible device drivers.
