to re-register DLLs that it might be accessing at the time? Or is this an issue about versions of DLLs not being correct? vb6 dll share|improve this question edited Jun 23 '10 at 16:13 asked Jun 23 '10 at 15:42 CJ7 4,93332112218 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted I've seen this error before with controls (ocx). It can usually be solved by recompiling the program with the latest version. If microsoft common controls that's not the issue, I find a good brute-force method to clean the registry and check you have the correct version installed is to simply delete the dll in question (or just rename it) and then use a utility like CClean to delete the orphaned entry. I admit it's a sledgehammer to crack a nut. share|improve this answer answered Jun 23 '10 at 16:21 pm_2 4,7482089175 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote You might check the exe/dlls with a tool like Dependency Walker to see if there is a missing component: http://download.cnet.com/Dependency-Walker/3000-2086_4-10052198.html share|improve this answer answered Jun 25 '10 at 12:54 jasonk 1,02222130 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote Or you might have added an Icon to your application and is not compatible with the OS version just like what happened to me. share|improve this answer answered Mar 3 '14 at 8:33 Oskee 1 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. The short answer: 1. Re-install the program which does not run. Many software installation programs supply the runtime program and controls they require.
