One day, it just stopped working. ps: I have this program code managed in svn so I can safely say that the code has not changed. vb.net scheduled-tasks share|improve this question asked Jan 10 '11 at 15:29 Mr. Manager 4,56753367 If possible have you tried running the same application on a different machine? Does your program needs admin rights? What does the program do? What is your OS (Vista, Win 7) ? Can you provide us with more details. –Searock Jan 10 '11 at 15:46 repasting the location into the run textbox fixed the issue. I tested this and if you create a task that points to a file exe that does not exist you get a 'could not start message'. So I don't know how I was getting the error code I was getting. –Mr. Manager Jan 10 '11 at 19:33 add a comment| 5 Answers 5 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote accep

I used ADO because scheduled task I was basically re-writing an existing VB6 application in .NET and didn't have the allocated time to devote more effort than necessary. Basically, when I run this application on my machine, it completes with no errors and performs all operations. When I run this application as a scheduled task, as a different user, on the target machine, I get the standard Send Error Report to Microsoft dialog, and the following appears in the Scheduled Task Log: The task e0434f4d scheduled task completed with an exit code of (e0434f4d). The same user, on the same machine, could complete execution of the VB6 version as a scheduled task. Can someone elaborate at all what that error code means? I haven't found much help in the first few pages of a google search. 0 Question by:neverrealm Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 4 Best Solution bymdefalco try the second solution in this link; http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911816 see if that cleares up the error in event viewer. after making the change clean the event viewer log and restart computer Go to Solution 15 Comments LVL 4 Overall: Level 4 Visual Basic.NET 1 Message Expert Comment by:mdefalco2007-12-13 Sounds crazy, but does this machine have the latest versions of Microsoft.Net I found a lot of programs will not function properly if .Net 2.0 and 3.0 are not installed and updated. Debugs fine and when built the .exe also. I am assuming it is not the problem. My next task is to have code that will make a scheduled task For simplicity I chose AT to make the task, eg command = "at 12:55 /interactive /every:M,T,W,Th,F ""%ProgramFiles%\path\test.exe""" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313565 The task runs, my little .exe can be found in the task manager, but no code is actually run. If I create the task my self manually with my username and password then the programs and TASK runs properly. The problem is that an AT made task does not run. My code to make my AT task is above.
