I first noticed this when accessing that record via an update query, but later found that I also got the same error when trying to delete the record. What causes this, and how can it be resolved? table ms-access ms-access-2010 http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18844903/what-causes-a-the-search-key-was-not-found-in-any-record-error-in-access-2010 corruption share|improve this question asked Sep 17 '13 at 8:29 BFWebAdmin 2,12763167 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote accepted It was just a database corruption, but I was misled by it only affecting one record. A Compact and Repair sorted it immediately. share|improve this answer answered Sep 17 '13 at 8:29 BFWebAdmin 2,12763167 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote Also check the database version. I was having the problem with VBA CreateDatabase(sTempDBName, dbLangGeneral) in Access 2010 where I was using a 2003 database trying to link a table in a 2010 database. When I manually tried the link I got a message about no support for linking to a later version. Creating the temp database I was trying to link to using the option dbVersion40 "CreateDatabase(sTempDBName, dbLangGeneral, dbVersion40)" cured it. share|improve this answer answered Feb 18 '14 at 14:33 ReportingHack 1 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. to import an Excel spreadsheet into an Access 2007 table. Get the error "The search key was not found in any record". http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/what-is-a-search-key-to-import-excel-to-access.3826875/ I never encountered this in earlier Access versions and can't find anything in Help about a search key. Sue, Jun 4, 2009 #1 Advertisements Ken Snell [MVP] Guest That error https://bytes.com/topic/access/answers/692073-search-key-not-found-any-record-error-when-delete message typically indicates a corruption of the ACCESS database. Typical way to fix is to create a new database, and import all the objects from the older database into the new database. search key In ACCESS 2007, this is done by clicking on External Data tab on the ribbon, clicking on Access icon in Import group, and follow the wizard's prompts. -- Ken Snell http://www.accessmvp.com/KDSnell/ "Sue" <> wrote in message news:... > Trying to import an Excel spreadsheet into an Access 2007 table. Ken Snell [MVP], Jun 4, 2009 #2 Advertisements Kaykayme Guest I had the same error but by removing the spaces at the beginning of the field names in my spreadsheet I was able to import my file. I took another look at the spreadsheet I was trying to import (it was created by another person) and there was a column heading with a space in front. Once I removed that space, the file imported fine. This is something you might want to just try first. beejay56, Jul 26, 201

"Search Key Not Found in any Record" Error when delete P: 6 Isomorphism I have front end form, query, and report database that sits on a desktop(5 computers), and a table database that sits on a server. All 5 front ends are linked to the backend. Every once in a while one of the records gets completely messed up--all the fields get jumbled--and when I try to delete and recreate the entry, it says Search Key Not Found. Has anyone heard of this, and if so, is there anything I can do? Aug 13 '07 #1 Post Reply Share this Question 6 Replies Expert Mod 10K+ P: 12,110 Rabbit How are you trying to delete it? If so, remove index, then try to delete the bad record. 3. Still no go? shut down FE and BE, then compact/repair BE. 4. try to delete bad record again. 5. still no go? make a "structure only" copy of table. Make sure no index on memo fields. 6. create append query that will exclude bad record and append good records to new table. Has anyone heard of this, and if so, is there anything I can do? Is the table (backend) database written in Access? If so this sounds like a form of corruption. This can happen on multi user databases when two users are trying to edit the same record at the same time. In the backend database go to Tools - Options and under the Advanced tab set the default record locking to Edited Record. This will prevent more than one user editing a record at the same time. To recover your current records you will need to follow puppydogbuddy's instructions and create a new table and append
