A Program On Your Computer Has Corrupted Your Default Search Provider Setting For Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer, a message comes up: "a program on your computer has corrupted your default search provider setting for Internet Explorer". Then it is followed by options on picking my primary search provider. I tried to choose my options, but it does not accept and I am totally annoyedwith having to close the two windows each and every time I open Internet Exployer. I have Microsoft security, but it wormed into my computer anyhow. How do I get rid of this? IE 7,IE8 or IE9? First, you can run the IE with “no adds-on” model. 1. Open Start Menu, then click all programs, select Accessories, open the system tools; 2. Right-click Internet Explorer(No Add-ons), run as Administrator. In this environment, you could check whether your issue disappears or not. If the message disappear, it means that this issue is caused by some search add-ons. I suggest you try following steps to narrow down. 1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools and click Manage add-ons. 2. Disable all the add-ons and then turn the needed items on until the proble

February 22, 2013 After some malware cleanup and a bigger battle to get the antivirus AVG uninstalled from a computer, the last remaining symptom was a message shortly after launching Internet Explorer. It stated: Internet Explorer - Search Provider https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/ie/en-US/26c01eef-6806-411b-84f7-d832b745bcea/corrupt-message-regarding-default-search-provider?forum=ieitprocurrentver Default A program on your computer has corrupted your default search provider setting for Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer has reset this setting to your original search provider, Bin (www.bing.com). Internet Explorer will now open Search Settings, where you can change this setting or install more search providers. Unfortunately, the solution wasn't as simple as IE's reset or choosing a new search provider and making it https://www.404techsupport.com/2013/02/internet-explorer-a-program-on-your-computer-has-corrupted-your-default-search-provider-setting/ the default. Even upgrading Internet Explorer 8 to version 9 still resulted in the same message. Fortunately, the solution was able to be found on a Microsoft Answers thread. The trick is to delete a cache file that IE uses for the search history that must have become corrupted or at least no longer lined up with IE's actual settings. Step 1: Close Internet Explorer. Step 2: Browse to C:UsersUserAppDataRoamingMicrosoftProtect Step 3: Hit the Alt key to reveal the menu bar and go to Tools, Folder Options. Step 4: Choose to show hidden files and uncheck to Hide protected system files under the View tab. Step 5: Delete the CREDHIST file. Step 6: Reset step 4 back to how it was. You can now launch Internet Explorer and ensure that the error message does not appear. The CREDHIST file is recreated if it is missing the next time Internet Explorer is running. It just isn't corrupted from the previous junk the next time. Share this:FacebookTwitterRedditGoogleEmailPrint Related Filed Under: Tech SolutionsFollow Us Subscribe to 404TS articles by email. I'm new to this, but here I go. I've been getting a pop-up when I go on the internet. It says, "A program on your computer has corrupted your default search provider setting for Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer has reset this setting to your original search provider, LiveSearch(search. live.com). Internet Explorer will open Search Settings, where you can change this setting or install more search providers." This started when I started using Vuze. I thought that the Vuze program was the corrupting program. This didn't bother me too much until I got the XP Antivirus 2010. After running Spybot S&D, Avast! 5 scans and Antimalware I
