Whenever I open IE8 for the first time after turning on my computer, I get the following popup error message: SysFader: iexplore.exe Application Error The exception illegal instruction An attempt was made to execute an illegal instruction. (0Xc000001d) occurred in the application at location 0x6609a929 Click on OK to terminate the program Click on Cancel to debug the program And then the 2 buttons. IE then keeps trying to reopen the tab, not allowing me to go anywhere using IE. I fixed the problem by opening IE in safe mode & deleting add-ons until I no longer had the problem. The chief culprit appears to be the Zonealarm Toolbar, which I disabled. Thanks to jtt83 for his suggestion. And I do always try Google first. Cheers, -Joyce m 0 l Can't find your answer ? Ask !
