Servers do not recognize the Windows 2000 Licensing server and the following error occurs: "The remote session was disconnected because there was no terminal server license https://discussions.citrix.com/topic/272649-no-terminal-server-license-servers-available/ server available to provide a license." The following event ids are logged: Event ID 1004: No Terminal Server licenses available. Event ID 1011: There are no Terminal Server licenses available. Users cannot log on to a session using either ICA or RDP. Background Microsoft stated that Windows 2003 Server serves the Windows 2003 http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX102872 Terminal Server licensing. In the old licensing scheme, the licensing was on an Active Directory controller but in Windows 2003 this is no longer a requirement. Refer to Q279561 Microsoft technote to install a Windows 2003 Server and point all Terminal Server users to the installed license. Note: Windows XP and pre-release client OS requires TS License of 2003. Vista, Windows 7 and later require license from 2008 Terminal Server. Solution To resolve the issue, install licensing on a Windows 2003 Server and then install your CAL packs on the Windows 2003 Server. A hotfix is available for this issue. It may be downloaded from https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2916846. There is an alternative workaround for this issue. The first step in troubleshooting the issue should be to run the RD Licensing Diagnoser tool from Server Manager. This tool checks the existing Remote Desktop licensing configuration for problems and provides troubleshooting suggestions for any that it finds. If the RD Licensing Diagnoser reports t

Please contact the server administrator. And because it doesn't happen too often, each time I end up searching for a fix terminal server for this issue. Never again! 🙂 Let's write it down, and let internet remember. The Error: The remote session was disconnected because tehre are no Terminal Server License Servers available to provide a license. Please contact the server administrator. The Fix: 1. Run REGEDIT 2. Take a backup (Export) of folder [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSLicensing] 3. Blog On /by eGroupI ran across an issue this week where one of our customers was reporting that a Terminal Server License error was being thrown when attempting to launch a published XenApp application. The error stated the following: "The remote session was disconnected because there are no Terminal Server License Servers available to Provide a license." The odd element of this problem was that this was only occurring on single machine. We could never reproduce the error on another computer, and no other users were reporting any issues. After some investigation a colleague of mine pointed me to following Citrix forum discussion: http://forums.citrix.com/thread.jspa?threadID=93566. To resolve the problem, the effected employee simply removed the Registry subkeys under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMSLicensingStore".
