shared mailboxes. The access to these mailboxes is granted through group memberships, which have “full mailbox access” and “send-as” permissions granted. Outlook is configured to use a second profile for the cannot activate free/busy information outlook 2013 Shared Mailbox access. The Symptom: In the phase of testing their mailbox migration to Exchange 2010 Sp1 RU6 they encountered the following issue trying to delegate Calendar permissions using the “Outlook delegation wizard” on their shared mailboxes: “The Delegates settings were not saved correctly. Cannot activate send-on-behalf-of-list. You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object” Troubleshooting stop marchenko or save delegates deus ex steps: If you do an Internet research there appear to lots of people complaining about this exact behaviour. The two most popular described solutions are the following: 1. Using the “IgnoreSOBError” – “SendOnBehalf” Registry key to silently drop the error message and proceed with permission assignment. With the usage of this key the described error message is just dropped by Outlook and the selected permissions out of the delegation wizard are applied (without setting the SendOnBehalfof permission). The SendOnBehalf Permission is not needed to act as calendar delegate. If the delegate has to use the “send on behalf of” permission for writing email “in behalf of” this has to be done by an administrator using the Exchange Management Shell or Exchange Management Console. Create a new RBAC role and strip all parameters for “GrantSendOnBehalf plus Identity” and add the user who should be able to do their delegation without an error. In this case the Outlook Wizard will finish successfully an

If you suspects Delegates http://www.techieshelp.com/outlook-2010-the-delegates-settings-were-not-saved-correctly/ list contains a mailbox user who no longer exists in the organization then remove the non-existent user from the Delegates list before you attempt to add other Delegates or change the Delegates settings. 2- In some instances this error can occur if non-existent user the delegate granted Send on Behalf permission to user’s Mailbox; So please remove the non-existent user from Active Directory and then remove them from Delegate Tab in Outlook. If above procedure does not work then proceed below procedure. 3. As per MS KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2593557 When you add a delegate, Outlook also tries to grant "send on settings were not behalf of" permission to the delegate by default. This permission is written to the publicDelegates attribute of your user object in Active Directory. The issue can occur for the following reasons. • The global catalog (GC) server to which your Outlook client is connected is not local to your domain. If your Outlook client is connected to a GC that is not local to your domain, the publicDelegates attribute cannot be written to your user object in Active Directory. • The SELF object does not have the Write Personal Information right on your Active Directory user object. To resolve this issue : • At first add the SELF account with “Write Personal Information” rights on the user account Security Tab. If it is already added, remove the SELF account, and then re-add the SELF account with “Write Personal Information” rights. If the above steps doesn’t help you then proceed to Point-4 4. Outlook can be configured to enable you to add delegates wi

Posted in Microsoft Outlook In outlook 2010 if you are trying to setup delegate permissions for users to be able to access your mailbox or give the rights to see your calendar then you may come across the following problem. After setting up the relevant permissions and you attempt to save them the following error pops up. The Delegates settings were not saved correctly. Unable to activate send-on-behalf-of list. You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object. To resolve this issue we need to modify a key in the registry. First run regedit and browse to the following key. HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>Office>14.0>Outlook>Preferences In the right menu right lcick and select New DWORD value. Then name the DWORD IgnoreSOBError. Select the IgnoreSOBError DWORD now and change its value to 1. Then click OK. You will need to reboot the PC to make these changes effective. You will now be able to save the delegation permissions correctly.   Allen WhiteAllen is a Consultant for ITPS in the North East of England and holds the following accreditations.
