11:20 am Offline Freshman Member Joined: Mon May 14, 2007 2:34 pm Posts: 53 Location: Leitchfield, Ky I am trying to fix a thinkpad 600, everything is going good except I have a error code 301. I know that it refers to the keyboard and I have a new one on the way but there is a 24 a few spaces in front of the 301, what is that? I was getting 161, 163, 192, and the 301. I replaced the cmos battery and now all I get is the 301. Do you think replacing the keyboard will fix it? Has anyone encountered this error on the IBM Thinkpad 600E? I read http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/205757-error-301-on-ibm-thinkpad-600e/ from the net that this is a keyboard error. I am currently using an external keyboard because some of the keys of the internal keyboard are no longer working. Unfortunately, I think one of the keys got stuck and now the laptop always goes to the test screen every time I open it. While I can bypass the error and proceed to load Win XP, everytime I click on a program (ex. MS Word), it opens the said programs over and over again until the memory is all used up. I am wondering if there is a way to disable the internal keyboard and just use the external keyboard which I am currently using. I saw some cmos modification to disable the trackpoint (the red pencil eraser-like rubber on the keyboard) but couldn't find one for the internal keyboard.
