The only way to fix it if it's corrupted is to do a repair install of Windows. I would recommend first running chkdisk on the Windows XP disc http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/448423/after-chkdsk-runs-a-message-with-an-unrecoverable-problem-appears/ to check the file system for errors. It sounds like you have a file system problem that needs to be corrected first. If so a repair install could make the problem worse. How to do this: 1. Boot from the Windows XP disc. 2. Type in the following: chkdsk C: 6. Press Enter. Edit: If that says there are errors to be fixed type the following: chkdsk /F C: Then Press enter. This error indicates the hard drive or partition has a serious error that chkdsk cannot resolve and that unrecoverable error the hard drive is either seriously corrupt or has failed. The hard drive can be tested using specialized disk drive utilities designed to test and fix failures if possible.
