Iis 405 Method Not Allowed Delete
Hello everyone, I hope I'm posting in the correct forum. We have a developer that is building an app on the Surface RT that will upload picture files. The app is almost done, but we are sure iis 8 405 method not allowed what needs to be setup on the server side. I have a powershell script that is supposed to prepare the server call setupserver.ps1, but it's for iis7. Anyway, i keep getting this error: Method not allowed (405). (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80190195). Error in Background Transfer Here is a link to a guy that was having the same issue as we are. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winappswithcsharp/thread/c1f73553-2bf5-4ab6-8673-eecd87faff32/ Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, what verb is it trying to use? If you go to the properties of the site in IIS, click on the Home Directory tab, then click the Configuration button, you will see all the configured Application extensions. If you click the appropriate extension and click Edit, you can see the verbs that are configured for that extension. Rick Barber OrcsWeb: Managed Windows Hosting Solutions "Remarkable Service. We are trying to upload a zip file of pictures, but we have tried other extensions like .txt and .jpg with the same method not allowed response. I did follow your instructions and realized .zip wasn't in the list. I added the extension allowing the verbs POST, PUT, and GET. To be honest, I'm not sure how to decide the executable path. I just copied and pasted from one of the other file extensions which I'm sure may be incorrect unless it was a luck guess. A few more details. All I have for this "Site" is an empty folder that the site is pointing to in it

405 on Error on HTTP POST IIS ASP .NET up vote 1 down vote favorite I'm working on a web application that is referenced from another, external application. The external application tries to do a POST on the vdir when opening. At http://forums.iis.net/t/1199696.aspx?Method+not+allowed+405+on+iis6 this point, I get an HTTP 405 Error: HTTP Error 405 - The HTTP verb used to access this page is not allowed. Internet Information Services (IIS) I checked the IIS event logs and I see that the external application tries to post, but I can't change permissions for a directory, since I need an extension. Any ideas? asp.net http iis share|improve this question edited May 15 '14 at 21:36 arserbin3 3,91162441 asked Jul 7 '11 at 21:11 user472875 1,34231950 add a comment| 2 Answers http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6617210/http-405-on-error-on-http-post-iis-asp-net 2 active oldest votes up vote 6 down vote accepted Make sure you are including the web page file name in the post URL (http://yoursite/app/Page.aspx instead of http://yoursite/app) You may need to explicitly allow POSTs to the file type of your web page. See here for instructions of how to do it in IIS. (Those instructions are for IIS 6. For IIS 7 simply go to Handler Mappings, click Edit for the appropriate entry, click the Request Restrictions button, then go to the Verbs tab.) share|improve this answer answered Jul 7 '11 at 21:25 Keith 11.5k84281 This solution worked, so I guess I'll give that to you. My question was a little different though. I was wondering if there is a way to allow a post on the vdir itself. For example, let's say instead of the default.aspx I want to test another page, I would have to change the external link every time... –user472875 Jul 8 '11 at 14:44 To http-post to a directory you can convert the directory to an application (in IIS Manager, right-click the directory and select Convert To Application). Not sure if there's any better way. –Keith Jul 8 '11 at 16:36 add a comment| up vote 2 down vote Do you have a default document in the virtual directory that you are posting to? IIS will not allow POST commands to a folder, but it should still map the virtual directory to the default document. Also try removing the trailing slash. http://forums.iis.net/t/1171316.aspx share|improv

I can post to my default page fine if I include it in the url (http://localhost/wiki/wiki.asp?pg=Home), but if I post without (http://localhost/wiki/?pg=Home) I get a 405. 405 method not If I do a get with that second URL, it works ok. I don't think it's an ASP error, because I've got 'Send detailed error message to client' selected. Here are more details and the solution: http://www.somacon.com/p126.php. According to this KB article, that default setting was fixed in IIS6, which is why you see it on the workstation only. share|improve this answer answered Dec 18 '10 at 1:12 Scott Forsyth - MVP 13.7k22346 Scott, I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt on this one.
