I am using GetRequestStream to stream in the bytes and write it to a file because the file is a dynamic link that redirects. First, I make an HttpWebRequest to the site login page to get the session ID cookie. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/39258131/httpwebresponse-500-internal-server-error-how-to-fix This part works fine. Then I use this cookie to make a request for the file. But every time I make the request, the "500 internal server error" is thrown. I have been working on this problem for weeks and trying to send different combinations of headers, but nothing works. I can click on the link to the file in Mozilla or IE and the dynamic link opens the pdf just fine. But I can't seem to stream it using a request. I used Fiddler to get the following headers for the request: GET http://ss.website.com/ReportPrint.aspx?reportdefpk=19&opt=1st HTTP/1.1 Host: ss.website.com User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; WOW64; rv:43.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/43.0 Accept: text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8 Accept-Language: en-US,en;q=0.5 Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate Referer: http://ss.website.com/report.aspx?reportdefpk=19 Cookie: ASP.NET_SessionId=f5wskk5wgd2sx01j3xwcjudc Connection: keep-alive Then after the pdf loads and opens in the browser, I get the following response headers: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Cache-Control: private Content-Type: application/pdf Server: Microsoft-IIS/7.5 content-disposition: attachment; filename=reportcard.PDF X-AspNet-Version: 4.0.30319 X-Powered-By: ASP.NET Date: Wed, 31 Aug 2016 19:20:28 GMT Content-Length: 128396 So, using all of these headers I first make a request to the login page containing my username and password. Next, I use the cookie from that and make a request for the pdf file
