Without that info, we can't really offer any concrete solutions. But if I were to make a wild guess about what the problem is, I'd say your hosting providers Apache configuration is incompatible with the Drupal .htaccess file. Try deleting the .htaccess file from your Drupal directory and see if that changes anything. -- AntonNew to Drupal? | Forum posting tips | Troubleshooting FAQ Log in or register to post comments right way framfield commented October 22, 2006 at 1:30am thanks for advice Anton. It really helped and after I removed .htaccess file drupal site started. But it obviously still not quite all right. Now I can see new message on the top, saying: Warning: Access denied for user 'framfield'@'%' to database 'framfield' query: LOCK TABLES cache WRITE in /www/fabik.co.uk/public_html/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 121 this message is on the top and below this is already drupal website. btw, I couldn't find that error log on my server, that's why I didn't displayed it here. is a good chance that all you get is a "500 internal server error". This is usually due to the .htaccess http://www.leccionespracticas.com/informatica-web/drupal-informatica-web/drupal-7-500-internal-server-error-solved file included with the installation, and more precisely to these lines: # Follow symbolic links in this directory. Options +FollowSymLinks Some web hosts tighten up security settings and now forbid http://drupal.stackexchange.com/questions/68896/500-internal-server-error-while-installing-drupal +FollowSymLinks option in .htaccess. This causes an 500 error when accesing the site. The fix is quite simple. Just replace +FollowSymLinks with +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch. So edit the lines above to this: 500 internal # Follow symbolic links in this directory. # comment this one... # Options +FollowSymLinks # add this new line... Options +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch The issue should be fixed. Please note that there is not just one .htacess file in your Drupal 7 site. There is one in / and usually there are other .htaccess files that must be modified too, for instance in 500 internal server sites/default/files. You must change that one too or every image that you upload to your Drupal 7 site won't be rendered… Discussion about this topic available here: http://drupal.org/node/1269780 Posted in: Drupal \ Tagged: .htaccess, 500, d7, drupal, drupal7, error, followsymlinks, internal server error, options, security, solved, symlinksifownermatch 4 Thoughts on “Drupal 7 "500 - Internal server error" [SOLVED]” Dejan on 27/08/2013 at 14:03 said: Hi Miguel, this is working , thank you very much !!!! This last can be raised during install and dev, then lowered for production. Lacking .htaccess at Drupal's root. Standard unix commands often don't copy hidden files, and .htaccess is more or less mandatory for D7 to work. Lousy DB connection, particularly on shared hosting.
