26 Nov 2008Posts: 1 Posted: Fri Nov 28, 2008 8:32 am Post subject: Error 500 Internal Server Error I Installed the Abyss web server and the pre web api 500 internal server error configured PHP package. I then followed the instructions on how to configure Abyss 500 internal server error web service to handle PHP scripts. I tried running a PHP file and the following error appeared : Error 500 Internal Server http 500 internal server error web service Error. I read on a previous thread that this could be because I have to versions of PHP installed, but upon looking I found I have only the one version installed. If any has a solution it would be greatly appreciated Back to top rrinc-Joined: 24 Feb 2006Posts: 725Location: Arkansas, USA Posted: Fri Nov 28, 2008 8:45 am Post subject: Do you know which PHP version you are using? One possible fix though is setting the interpreter style to "Standard" (NOT php style), assuming you have the latest PHP._________________-Blake | New Server :D SaveTheInternet Soy hispanohablante. Agreed. 500 errors generally have more details in the cgi log (that you wouldn't want everyone in the world to see)._________________Stephen Need a LitlURL? http://CodeBin.yi.org Back to top marlin-Joined: 01 Sep 2006Posts: 7 Posted: Mon Dec 08, 2008 2:57 am Post subject: I get the Error 50

In development since 2002, its https://www.betaarchive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8975 current version (2.5) runs on Linux, BSD, Windows, and Mac OS X. Its simple installation and setup (no obscure text configuration files) allows you to code your site with PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby, and 500 internal even ASP.Net, if you're using the Windows version. Licensing is somewhat peculiar. Abyss isn't open source software, but it provides two versions: X1, which is free, and X2, which costs about $60. The X1 version is almost as fully featured as the X2 one, and it has no restrictions, nag screens, time limits, or any similar behaviors. When you purchase the X2 version, you get a year's worth of 500 internal server free updates and support. After a year you can opt to extend your license (for an additional payment of $25, or $40 for two years' worth) or just keep the latest version. Installation You'll likely want to try out the free edition before committing to the paid one, so go to the Abyss download site, get the Linux version, and untar it in its own directory (a good choice might be $HOME/bin). You can run Abyss either directly from the console (and shut it down with Ctrl-C) or as a daemon, by adding the -d parameter. In any case, you must run it as a common user; if you try to run it as root, Abyss will complain and not run. (Running any Web server as root is usually not a good idea, so this behavior makes sense.) After you complete the installation, start the software with the command ./abyssws. The server will confirm that it's running on port 8000, and let you know you can configure it at port 9999. Navigate to http://127.0.0.1:9999 and select the default language. (According to the online documentation, you should be able to choose from among English, French, Arabian, German, Chinese, and more, but only the first three were availab

The server wasn't under any special load when I tried to visit so it must be some sort of configuration issue. I sure know that apache wouldn't error like this under 10x the load and I know from experience Abyss isn't that bad that it should mess up. According to stats you had just 12 users online on this website (host many more?). Even if 12 people loaded your index page (with no cache) all within one second you would still be only hitting 360 requests/sec (most of which are for static images/css). It should have no problem with that. In reality this number would be much lower as for the "members" at least most of it should be loading from cache. For apache2 on a server very much like yours it can do 2000/req/sec (source) based on a 3KB image. I just ran a basic load test. Just 10/req/sec (new connections closed immediately after load). I ran it for 5 seconds. At which point it was giving error 500 and continued to give error 500 for another 5 seconds after I stopped the test. There is clearly a problem. The same test ran on www.web-starters.net has no noticeable effect. The pages still load and within 0.1 of a second (from home) and cpu load is less than 10% (linux server load 0.29). My server is just a little kimsufi with apache. Top Andy Post subject: Re: Error 500. Internal Server Error. A cron runs at 00 minutes of each hour, which kills ALL php.exe processes, the reason being is that sometimes they lock up and cause every site on the server running on php to go down. Killing them all every 60 minutes prevents the site going offline for a period longer than 60 minutes. If that's when you load a page the that's why. Otherwise I have no idea, and it could have been a script error, or something else.No matter what you say, I will never switch to apache. End of. Abyss has served me well for the last 5 years, so I'm not changing for the sake of a couple of error 500's wh
