I checked the setting in the plesk cotrol panel: Server-wide mail preferences Maximum letter size and relay mode parameters authorization is required: SMTP (is checked) I tried restarting service, and the entire psa services The OS is freebsd 4.9 4psa spamguardian. This might be a firewall issue as teh ISP is using Cisco PIX, So the question is, Is SMTP AUTH supported without ESMTP? The reason that i ask is that when i use the EHLO the system says: (pl

This is actually an error coming back from your SMTP server (at the ISP). It sounds like you have a http://board.homeseer.com/showthread.php?t=106731 name and password setup in the SMTP server area and your ISP does not support the AUTH type that HomeSeer 2 is using. Try removing the name and password from the fields. Find out what type of authentication your ISP uses. Many use POP before SMTP which is good, just have HS check your POP mail every 5 mins and you are set. I used to check my yahoo mail but they started charging as did most others. __________________ -Rupp Rupp View Public Profile Visit Rupp's homepage! I don't use HS to check email. I just want HS to be able to send an email. Post #1 of 5 (2277 views) Permalink 502 unimplemented (#5.5.1) Hello. I'm not sure how many times you guys have seen this error, but I'm currently having a problem with it. I'm running qmail on my mail server. I can send (through command line) and receive mail on it (with external mail programs, and Squirrel Mail). I cannot send mail from Squirrel Mail though. I get the 502 unimplemented error. I'm also running qmail on my home box, and I'm using it just to send email (not receive). My mail is stored remotely on a server. I can send and receive mail fine from my box, but when I telnet to port 25 and type "user" I get 502 unimplemented. The problem on my home box is not as big as the problem on my server, but I'd like to get both sorted out.I'd really appreciate if someone could help me to figure out what's going on here, and to fix it. I've spent days, maybe weeks looking on Google and I haven't turned up an answer to my problem. I'm hoping these mailing lists will provide some insight as to what's going on with my boxes. Thanks in advance. ck-lists at cksoft Mar20,2003,3:39AM Post #2 of 5 (2252 views) Permalink Re: 502 unimplemented (#5.5.1) [In reply to] Hi, On 19 Mar 2003, Blake Covarrubias wrote: > Hello. [snipp] please go to www.rfc-editor.org and read rfc2821 on SMTP. ftp://ftp.rfc-editor.org/in-notes/rfc2821.txt and then tell us where it is that you see "user" being a valid smtp command ????
