I am new to this forum and was pointed here in an attempt to obtain some help with a problem I am having. For the last two and a half months whenever I use Word Perfect 12 (with Windows XP), I get this error message when I try to close a document. The top part of the messages reads: Perfectfont: wpwin12.exe Application Error And in the message box it reads: The instruction at "0x749860b0" referenced at memory "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read." And then I have to click "OK" to get rid of the message box with nothing being saved. What has happened is I no longer can get a full page with my text. The margins are all screwed up, pushing everything to the left side, leaving the right side blank. I now have a margin of 4.63 inches. It is almost as if there has been a column put on the page, but there hasn't. I have played around with the page setup option and it won't give me the chance to reset things back to normal. Whenever I attempt to print anything, with the small margins, a simple three or four page document 60 or 70 pages! Whatever happened, also effected the Paint program as I can't print out a simple picture. It too comes out very small. I did a little research and the one thing that did come up was that when JAVA updated awhile ago, the new update screwed everything up. So I took the advice of what I read and did a System Restore back to before the update took place and it seemed to take care of the problem. Then again, I am assuming, JAVA re-updated itself and the problem came back. Again, I did a System Restore, but now the problem is still here and won't go away. I also read that Internet Explorer could be corrupt an

Now some time ago, I started to receive a window error that had the title "apmain.exe - Application error", that said: "The instruction at '0x749860b0' referenced memory at '0x00000000'. The memory could not be 'read'. I installed application error the VM so I could install a program called Aspen Plus. At the beginning of this error program worked fine but after a while it started interfering with the correct functioning. I thought it was something related to the software so I uninstalled and reinstalled it. The problem kept going and I read on the web that it was related to the computer (in this case the VM). It said that it application error 0x749860b0 usually started after installing a specific software and that it could be solved by performing a system restore. I performed the system restore and when it rebooted, a black screen, as described in the thread: "Black screen in Windows Virtual PC - XP Mode, appeared. The message in the black screen says Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair. I haven't been able to sort this out. I don't want anything to be lost if I uninstall the VM but I can't afford to lose more time. Still I think it would be a good thing if this could be answered or guided. Apologies in advance in case this has been treated in other thread.
