In some cases, the error does not occur when you create and restore the image with a different Ghost version. Solution This problem appears to be due to the way Ghost is accessing the drive. On about 1/4 of the computers, the ghosting stops with an Application Error 29005 and application error the error will read for example "Write Sector Failure Result=1, Drive=0, sectors 4043607 to 4043663". I have repeated the process on those computers, using different cables, using a brand new switch, and again the error comes up on those computers. Some of them have the same sectors listed, but some have other sectors listed. The computers are new Intel Pentium 4 - 3.0 GHz/800FSB/1MB Cache, 512MB DDR400 PC3200 Non-ECC Memory, P4M80-M7 mATX motherboard w/ lan, ide hard drive application error 29005 Western Digital 80 GB 7200RPM Ultra ATA, ATI Radeon 9250 128MB AGP card,... I searched the BIOS for the option setting and did not find it anywhere. We will plan to upgrade to the newer version. But even if we order it today, I won't get the new software before school would start. Currently I have taken out the hard drives from the computers that failed the ghosting process and put them in the computers that worked with the ghosting process. Hopefully those computers will succesfully ghost a hard drive

Join Date: Feb 2000 Location: Temple City, Ca Posts: 7,762 I obtained and installed Norton System Works 2003 with Ghost. Drive C is 2GB and drive D is a blank drive (used) at 8 GB. Run though Ghost and all is well until Ghost tries to write. I get a write error. Computer sees the D drive. It formatted again OK. Norton Disk Doctor says the drive is ok, but getting the following message. Backed up C drive on disks and tried to Ghost to D. Same message.
