I have formatted it several times before and re-loaded windows back on without any problems til now. The problem only started two days ago when I noticed my CD Drive wasn't been recon. So I decided to format etc, got out the Recovery Utility disc that came alone with the Computer to install everything, and it won't go past 12%. I am greeted with ****** Application Error 437 Cannot read from file" I am left really stuck and can load nothing. I have fdisc / formated /spinrite / kill disc the hard-drive just in case there were something nasty on there and can still get nowhere. This is the first time I'm really stuck. Could this be the CD Rewriter or could it be the Hard-disc or basicly the computer is nakered. I have inspected the Recovery disc's, and they are all clean! Or would it be because I did a bios update (mind you, that were weeks ago) Anybody please Thanks in advance Reply With Quote 13.11.2006,11:20 Re: Satellite 2430-402: Application Error 437 during recovery #2 Markus77 View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Master Join Date Aug 2005 Posts 2,110 Hi in my knowledge the Ghost image files are placed on the Toshiba recovery CD. Therefore I have investigated little bit on the support website of the ghost manufacture. It’s Symantec and found this information site: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ghost.nsf/0/1

Toshiba Restore Started by Noxen , Nov 16 2007 11:16 AM Please log in to reply #1 Noxen Posted 16 November 2007 - 11:16 AM Noxen New Member Member 1 posts I have tried to restore my system and clean my disk over and over and over and the same thing happenes. My disk runs through Windows 98 but installs XP (just so you know). The whole process is automated, it deletes the partition and creates new and formatts it. Yet when after all that it enters the Norton Ghost 7.5.1 exactly 19% through it gives me a question Output A:\GHOST.ERR? [Yes] [No]. I do not have an A:\ drive and if i click [Yes] it says cannot open GHOST.ERR -insert diskette then brings me back to the first question. If i press [NO] it says at the top bar: Application Error 437 and the message says: Cannot read from file If this problem persists, please contact TOSHIBA support center or contact symantec support [OK]. It then brings me to a black dos screen that reads: ABORT: 437 - cannot read from file. Then to another screen that says: Remove all diskettes and cd's from the drives Press any key to continue... and i do and the computer just restarts. By the way i am typing this from another computer I have because when i go on the one i am trying to restore I cannot start windows because it has been DELETED! Thanks, Noxen 0 Advertisements #2 DJHTX1 Posted 06 December 2007 - 09:57 AM DJHTX1 New Member Member 1 posts Were you ever able to figure out your problem. I have had the same problem. I even ordered new recovery disks from Toshiba and it did the same thing. I have still been unable to repair. Thanks, DJHTX1 0 Back to Windows XP, 2000, 2003, NT · Nex
