The instruction at 0x77724775 referenced memory at 0x5667bcbc. the memory could not be written. click ok to terminate the program" message when i try to open my programs. also after a while i get a similar message but its "taskeng.exe - application error....." instead. first off, yesterday i stupidly deleted the files in my prefetch folder. all the files. i can't say i know what i was thinking so i firmly blame it on the hunger i was feeling at that moment. i have been looking for ways to restore the folder to no avail. now when i try to open it, it doesn't even open. asks for admin permission but does nothing. it just remains at the windows folder. could this be the cause of the error or might it be something more sinister? also, i had a game open at the time i deleted the folders and shut down my system. now the game runs but the particular saved game i was playing seems to be corrupt. is there anything i can do or do i have to re-install windows? also, i dont have much experience with reinsalling windows 7. is there a way i can do it without losing my files and applications? i seem to remember doing that a couple of times with XP (i might be having another hunger moment though). thanks for any help and assistance. im using windows 7 64 bit, 2gig ram, core 2 duo t5450 processor @ 1.66Ghz Edit: actually the dllhost error comes up when i try to enter the prefetch folder. might be because of it asking permission though Edited by ovoj Tuesday, January 18, 2011 9:31 AM extra info Tuesday, January 18, 2011 9:14 AM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote Try uninstalling avast! See if that solves the problem. Then install the last version you had and use the automatic updates settings for the program update.
