Some thread in the old Forum helped me. If you have Win 7, then you will probably have difficulties with the video sequences. There is also a thread that describes how to solve this issue.http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=178 #3 krashd View Profile View Posts S

(My Steam was on D: though). Solution was simple. Go to: http://store.steampowered.com/about/ Click on the "Install Steam Now". (Even though you may already have it!) Click Run (no need to save). When the dialog comes up, click "Repair". The Installer will fix any registry issues (which I seemed to have). It will also to re-update any Steam files when it starts up. When Steam attempts to start the game, the game immediately crashes (before switching resolution or showing anything) and I get window called "Microsoft Vicual C++ Runtime Library" with the following message: "Runtime Error! Program: This application has requested Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for application error failed more information." At first I assumed that the problem might have been the corruption of a file when I downloaded the game, so I deleted the game from the steamapps folder and downloaded the game again from scratch. Unfortunately, it hasn't made any difference. I've tried running the game directly instead of launching it from Steam, but that causes an "I can't find Steam" error. I've also tried modifying the game's settings to compatibility mode (Windows 95 through 2000), but again, no soap. I'm stuck, without the faintest idea of what's wrong and with no luck in trying to find discussion forums that have stumbled on the issue and a solution. Can anyone help me? And if so, do you need any further info? I'm running Windows XP SP3 with the latest DirectX files on a Macbook Pro. I'm booting directly in Windows, rather than virtualizing it, and have no problems running any of the PC games I've installed, from Devil May Cry 4 to Fallout 3. I wish I had an idea on how to fix this thing, I really want to play this game. :/ Reply With Quote 01-24-2009,12:39 AM #2 Miral View Profile View Forum Posts Random Lurker Join Date Apr 2
