Table of Contents Debugging Customize pages SSL Heroku’s HTTP router serves unstyled HTML with HTTP status code 503 (Service Unavailable) when your app encounters a system-level error, or while maintenance mode is enabled. Other errors, such as application errors (a 404 or 500), will display your application’s error page and heroku application error h10 not the Heroku error page. Only system-level errors that result in no response, or a malformed one, will display the Heroku error page discussed here. Debugging Logs are the first place to look when your users report seeing the Heroku error pages. Use the heroku logs command to view the unified event stream for your application and the state of the Heroku platform components supporting your application. $ heroku logs 2011-03-01T16:16:29-08:00 heroku[web.1]: State changed from starting to crashed 2011-03-01T16:16:59-08:00 heroku[router]: at=error code=H10 desc="App crashed" method=GET path=/ host=myapp.herokuapp.com fwd=17.17.17.17 dyno= connect= service= status=503 bytes= In this example, the router tried to serve a page for the app, but the web process is crashed. This article will help you discover why and what you can do to remedy the problem. Check your application logs The first step is to check your application’s logs. Many common https://devcenter.heroku.com/articles/application-offline application errors as well as Heroku’s errors are printed to your applications logs. To view your logs, run: $ heroku logs Note that many frameworks, including Ruby on Rails, will serve a default error page for your application when there are errors. You can compare this to Heroku’s error page which is used when one of Heroku’s error codes is the cause of the issue. If your logs show one of Heroku’s error codes, you should investigate the cause of this issue. Our descriptions of these errors is the best place to start. Check your processes Check on the current status of your process formation: $ heroku ps This will tell you the current state of your application’s dynos. When I use the basic logging module "heroku logs", it doesn't show any error application error heroku as if the "Application Error" never occurred. When I use the new logging module on Heroku, same thing. GetExceptional doesn't report anything. How should I proceed to find what causes the error? ruby-on-rails ruby-on-rails-3 heroku share|improve this question asked Mar 30 '11 at 3:42 Aymeric Gaurat-Apelli 1,2041011 Have you tried contacting support? If you can't access any logfiles, there might be something strange going on that's beyond your control - they could at least point you in the right direction. –theTRON Mar 30 '11 at 3:49 It is not that I can't access the log files, it is that the log files are not reporting any error. –Aymeric Gaurat-Apelli Mar 31 '11 at 12:29 We also have the problem reported above. As an observation I would like to point out that "normally" when an app crash happens, the exception is captured by Airbrake and the 500 error page is rendered. In contrast to this behaviour, this heroku white-page Application error is not captured by airbrake and there is no insight from the logs. &ndas
