I would like to use Visual Studio for C# https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/k2h50zzs(v=vs.80).aspx debugging, without using it as JavaScript debugger. Is there a way to disable script debugging for Asp.Net website projects? I run my projects by hitting F5 in my Visual Studio. (I've noticed that when I attach the debugger manually, I can specify the type of stuff I would like to debug.) Note: I would like to debug JavaScript, but not with Visual Studio 2010. The Developer Toolbar will suffice. c# asp.net visual-studio-2010 debugging share|improve this question edited Feb 24 '12 at 14:00 http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5512225/how-to-disable-script-debugging-in-visual-studio-2010-when-running-asp-net-websi asked Apr 1 '11 at 10:39 Kees C. I'm stupified :D. –Kees C. Bakker Apr 1 '11 at 11:04 1 The most ridiculous thing is that the bug has been closed on Connect with the reason "By Design"! –Sir Crispalot Apr 1 '11 at 11:07 1 Sort of a duplicate: stackoverflow.com/questions/664208/… –Cᴏʀʏ Apr 1 '11 at 11:07 add a comment| 5 Answers 5 active oldest votes up vote 14 down vote accepted See this article on Connect, and the other article it links to. To summarise, it's a workaround. Apparently VS can't attach the debugger to both Silverlight and script so if you turn on Silverlight debugging, it has to disable script debugging! To access these settings, go to Start Options which is within the web site Property Pages. share|improve this answer edited Apr 14 at 20:09 answered Apr 1 '11 at 10:50 Sir Crispalot 3,74812046 Wahahahha... amazing! No matter how good a development platform is, however, bugs and other issues can be introduced by developers and triggered by end users. Knowing how to quickly debug ASP.NET AJAX asp net applications can greatly increase your productivity as a developer and reduce the amount of frustration experienced while tracking down issues. There are many tools available to you as an ASP.NET AJAX developer to efficiently debug and test your applications. For example there is debug functionality available in the ASP.NET AJAX script library that can be used to make assertions and perform tracing operations. There are several tools asp net js to intercept and view request and response messages, to more easily track down data issues and monitor AJAX request and response message sizes. This article looks at several ways to use Internet Explorer and Visual Studio to debug JavaScript. And there are also several different debugging techniques available in Firefox that can simplify the process of debugging ASP.NET AJAX applications. Debugging JavaScript has proven to be somewhat of a challenge and has resulted in many developers resorting to "alert style" debugging to better understand how an application is working. Fortunately, Internet Explorer 6 or higher includes integrated debugging functionality that can be used to start a debug session and step through ASP.NET AJAX code with a debugging tool such as Visual Studio .NET 2005 or Microsoft's Script Debugger, as shown in the following sections. Learning how to leverage Internet Explorer debugging features can enhance your productivity and significantly minimize the amount of time you spend hunting down bugs and other issues. The debug capabilities in Internet Explorer 6 or higher are disabled by default but can be turned on by going to Tools-->Internet Options-->Advanced. The Advanced tab defines two items that need to be unchecked (a check

Running Classic ASP Applications on IIS 7 and IIS 8Classic ASP Script Error Messages No Longer Shown in Web Browser by Default Classic ASP Script Error Messages No Longer Shown in Web Browser by Default By Robert McMurrayFebruary 19, 2009In earlier versions of IIS, error messages from classic ASP scripts were sent to a Web browser, by default. Because these error messages might reveal sensitive information to malicious users, IIS 7 and above disables this feature by default. When your classic ASP scripts encounter an error in IIS, you receive the following error message by default: An error occurred on the server when processing the URL. Please contact the system administrator. If you are the system administrator please click here to find out more about this error. You can customize the ASP script error message, and also determine whether to return the script errors to a Web browser. Note: As a best practice for security, you should only enable sending ASP script error messages to a Web browser on a development or test computer; returning script error messages to a Web browser can unintentionally expose more information than you intended to show. Working with User Access Control You need to make sure that you follow the steps in this document by using an account that has full administrative permissions. This is best accomplished by using one of two methods: Log in to your computer by using the local administrator account. If you are logged in using an account with administrative permissions but that is not the local administrator account, open all applications and all command prompt sessions by using the "Run as Administrator" option. These above conditions are required because the User Account Control (UAC) security component in Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 will prevent administrative access to the IIS configuration settings. For more information about UAC, see the following documentation: User Account Control Customizing
