Every time that you try to plot it, an Autocad error occurs saying "Printer Name Invalid" The next is an Autocad Warning "The plotter configuration cannot be used. Either... The None plot device has been substituted." Every time this comes up in a batch plot, the process stops until this "error" and "warning" is cleared. Is there some way to remove this defunct plotter association from the drawing? Incidentally, this is with ACAD R15 (2000) and legacy Batch Plot program. I found that someone had copied old plotter configurations to a subdirectory in our network plotter setup folder. When I changed the name of the file extension, it went away. This is why I want limited accessibility to write to this network location, but the powers that be do not or will not understand. I'll just slog along. Its a XES Synergix 8825.pc3 in the Plotter Configuration Box in AutoCad. Underneath in the Plot Style Table Name it's got: SHARP-1.ctb (missing) When he goes to print he https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/21240135/Autocad-the-printer-name-is-invalid.html gets the error: Printer name is invalid. Under windows it says it's a Xerox Wide Format Print System 8825 It print's a test page in windows fine and also prints out of word. In the window printer properties under Device Options it has: Firmware Revision: LoadString Error = 1814 (0x716) and the Advanced tab properties are all greyed out. The network printer icon for it doesn't say ready. All the other network printers do. I believe they have AutoCad 2002. What should be my troubleshooting process? Unfortunately, I don't know a darned thing about AutoCad. Much TIA all. 0 Question by:ausadmin Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 1 Best Solution byrjayres A fix that sometimes works is to ensure that the Printer name and the .pc3 name are the same..
