Solved 4 Beeps on startup, Processor Thermal Trip & sudden shutdown while in XP sometimes Posted on 2010-11-30 Components Windows XP 5 Verified Solutions 24 Comments 9,889 Views Last Modified: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/000005473.html 2013-12-10 About 2 wks ago my pc started sounding out 4 beeps upon bootup post. (1 long, 1 short, 1 long, 1 short - if that makes a difference.) If I hit F2 at that time, the BIOS says "Processor Thermal Trip". I googled that and thought I found the solution that my board is reporting errant high temp readings. So a few days ago I updated my BIOS. Since the beeps https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/26649242/4-Beeps-on-startup-Processor-Thermal-Trip-sudden-shutdown-while-in-XP-sometimes.html don't happen every day, I was hopeful. But tonight it just completely powered off right in the middle of synching my iPaq about 2 min after bootup! So I powered up again, this time it gave me 4 beeps, Windows XP came up & it again completely powered off while synching my iPaq. HELP PLEASE!! I have a 'generic" pc with an Intel MB DG31PR. The BIOS is Intel PRG3110H.86A. It was version 0052 & I upgraded to vers 0071. I ran the Intel util to verify the MB & BIOS so I know I ran the correct update & it said "successful" when done. It's cold in the room where the pc is so it can't really be too hot immediately. I reseated the RAM & SATA drive connections. Also- what zones should i post in to get the best response?? thx 0 Question by:AprilW Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 5 Best Solution byDa_Pirate if you upgraded the bios version and you still have the problem , so the problem is about the Hardware 1- Make sure all the processor's pins on the sockets are fine, use a thermal paste and keep an Go to Solution 24 Comments LVL 5 Overall: Level 5 Windows XP 2 Message Accepted Solution by:Da_Pirate2010-11-30 if you upgraded the
