The beep code is followed by a user-visible code displayed on the Diagnostic LEDs. Note Common supported codes are listed in these tables. Beeps Error Message Description 1 short USB device action Short beep codes ibm beep sounded whenever USB device is discovered in POST, or inserted or removed during runtime. 1 long Intel Trusted Execution Technology (Intel TXT) security violation System halted because Intel Trusted Execution Technology detected a potential violation of system security. 3 short Memory error System halted because a fatal error related to the memory was detected. 3 long and 1 short1 CPU mismatch error System halted because a fatal error related to the CPU family/core/cache mismatch was detected. 2 short Recovery started BIOS Recovery boot has been initiated 4 short Recovery failed BIOS Recovery has failed. This typically happens so quickly after recovery is initiated, that it sounds like a 2-4 beep code. 1 This beep code only applies to the Intel Server Boards and Systems supporting the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v3 product family.The Integrated BMC generates beep codes when it detects failure conditions. Beep codes are sounded each time the problem is discovered, such as with each power-up attempt, but are not sounded continuously. Each digit in the code represents the number of beeps in the sequence. The following Beep Codes are from the integrated BMC. Beeps Error Message Description 1-5-2-1 CPU socket population error CPU1 socket is empty, or sockets are populated incorrectly. These beeps mean USB is powered and initialized. You are getting 1, 2, or 3 beeps that indicate a memory failure.1 beep - Refresh Error (with nothing on the screen and it is not a video problem) 2 beeps - Parity Error 3 beeps - Base 64 K memory failure Reseat the memory. Make sure that the contacts on the memory and the socket are clean. Try removing one bank of memory modules at a time. Note: Some systems might need to have a memory module in Bank 0.
