uninterruptable power supply is being used verify that the UPS is rated to sustain the wattage and amperage for the power supply being used in the computer. Also try plugging the machine directly into the wall if a UPS is being used. This will rule out any issues pertaining to a UPS. -Faulty Power Supply If the previous steps do not resolve the issue it is recommended to try a different power supply with the machine to rule out any power supply issues. 2) Grounding / Shorting Issues -Motherboard Stand-offs Ensure that standoffs are being used between the motherboard and the case, and the motherboard is not being screwed directly into the motherboard.Make sure that there is one standoff for each hole in the motherboard, and there are no additional standoffs making contact with the motherboard. -Aftermarket Party CPU Coolers If using an aftermarket CPU cooler that screws through the motherboard try unscrewing the CPU cooler and placing it on top of the CPU without screwing it down.If

I packed the inside tightly with newspaper, which has worked several times before, I guess this time is an exception. I took everything apart and checked for any damage. I couldn't find any gigabyte beep codes physical damage to the card (GeForce GTX 260), mother board (GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD5), CPU (I7 920), or heatsink (Cooler Master V8). I guess 2 of the screws on the Heatsink weren't properly seated, and were ripped out. I cleaned everything and reapplied thermal paste. I powered up and instantly the fans went to max power. Then post codes went through its normal steps and reached FF but there's no output to the monitor. The fan on the video card is running. I have no other video card to test if the card is the problem. My questions: 1. If the video card is broken, would the mother board know and post an error code? 2. The hard drives are not plugged into their original SATA ports, does this matter? 3. I seem to recall seeing a thread with all of the post codes listed but I can't seem to find it, can someone link me to it? (Including CPU failing to respond because of a broken pin.) And there's also a good chance it won't bleep when there's RAM not making proper contact. (May give symptoms resembling a damaged CPU) While OTOH, it's real likely to bleep furiously with a fan issue, if the RPM sensor isn't working or working correctly. Repeated bleeping= Reseat the RAM, just like mentioned on the second line. 1 long and several short bleeps=May just be the fan. (Especially Asus) 1 long and several short bleeps=Some motherboards seem to be real fussy with RAM. More likely with a cheap motherboard. Based on A
