the Community! Creating your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now Hi All, I am trying to repair an HP Compaq DC7800 (GC760AV). When the machine is plugged in it gives 4 beeps and https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/498153-hp-compaq-dc7800-sff-problem a red light on the front. The same type of problem is posted on the HP site and it claims to be related to the type of UPS the machine is being used with. However in my case, this http://blog.kostecky.cz/2014/10/hp-compaq-dc7800-beepcode.html unit is not on a UPS it is actually plugged directly into the wall outlet. Does anybody knopw of something that could resolve the issue? Did HP ever release anything like a BIOS rev or other form of fix beep codes for the problem? The machine seems to be fine otherwise and I would really hate to have to dump it. Reply Subscribe RELATED TOPICS: HP Compaq DX2200 constant beep signal. Check out this: http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.BINARYPORTLET/public/kb/docDisplay/resource.proc... It has error codes hp beep codes based on the front LED that might help you. HP uses PSU with connector collection of their design. 1 Chipotle OP bleis May 19, 2014 at 7:43 UTC Odds are with the DC7800 (given the age) possibly bad capacitors. I have had 3 in the last couple of days DC7700. Those machines are approx. from 2008-2009. I would confirm you don't have popped or bubbled caps. 1 Datil OP Priscilla@HP May 19, 2014 at 8:06 UTC Brand Representative for HP bleis wrote: Odds are with the DC7800 (given the age) possibly bad capacitors. However, the unit's EOL has not yet been reached--not until January 29, 2015. 1 Cayenne OP Ethan6123 May 19, 2014 at 10:23 UTC Checking the PSU is a good idea. I could have swore 4 beeps on a HP was a RAM error so you might want to consider checking that too. 0 Pimiento OP Naveed6298 May 20, 2014 at 12:17 UTC 1st Post computer hardware beeps for two reasons

OR The heatsink/fan assembly is not properly attached to the processor. Ensure that the computer air vents are not blocked and the processor cooling fan is running. Open hood, press power button, and see if the processor fan spins. If the processor fan is not spinning, make sure the fan's cable is plugged onto the system board header.
