It is normal for the computer to make one or two short beeps during the startup process or during a BIOS update. Let the process continue and do not interrupt it. Power Supply was bad Change it out with another DC5100 and the beep codes 4 machine work. Put the bad one in the another machine and the problem duplicated. Hope this helped. Helpful +11 Report itsjustpauly Oct 15, 2010 07:35PM My son just had the same problem. I had him clean the dust off the processor heat sink. I then had him pull one memory stick and then startup, it did. I then had him install the memory stick, and pull the other one. The computer started up fine. I then had him reseat the second memory stick and restart the computer. The computer is now running fine. Evidently, the memory needed to be reseated. Helpful +5 Report JimBob Jan 14, 2013 06:24PM Same Deal, dropped my computer and it was running terribly, couldn't run any applications so I thought it was dead. Got bored on the phone one afternoon with Rogers fixing an invoice issue so I took off the back panels and started looking around, unseated every component I could and reseated it, now the computer runs better then ever on only half the ram. I'll wait till i'm done cleaning everything out and then i'll reinstall the other GB. Don't worry about the 'Beware' or 'Warranty Void' stuff, just takes a bit of a can-do attitude and a small screwdriver and you can fix it yourself. HP Desktop Beep code Started by Crispyt , Mar 04 2011 08:20 PM Please log in to reply #1 Crispyt Posted 04 March 2011 - 08:20 PM Crispyt New Member Member 2 posts For some reason my HP DC5000 SFF desktop wont boot up. What I get is a black screen and all it does is give me a beep code like this..... beeeep.. beeeep.. beeeep.. beeeep.. beeeep.. then it will pause for about 2 sec, and do it again. Does anyone know what that beep code means? Ive looked around but found nothing on it. Thanks for your time and help all! HP beep-codes are here: http://h10025.www1.h...bph07107&dlc=en The most common suspects are incompatible or faulty RAM or a faulty graphics card. You can test the RAM with Memtest86. Make a CD from the downloaded ISO file & boot the PC from it. Run the memory test for at least five passes. Memtest 86: http://www.memtest86.com/ Faulty graphics card can only be determined by fitting a different one that is known to be okay. Edited by phillipc
