never really documented all that well. The codes that I am presenting here are from documents I have read through, found on the gigabyte beep codes web, found in old books, documents and technical papers. As a computer technician, I rely on documentation to guide me through these types of messages. Therefore, I hope to provide this to all those other technicians out there who get https://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/1-07-fail-on-a-drive-i-need-to-back-up-help-please-318847/ the opportunity to work on one of these. And, yes, people still use them and some refuse to give them up. The method for reading these codes is pretty straight forward. The first part of the error code indicates the device that is causing the trouble. The second part gives the meaning of the error. You can think of the first part as the test code and the second part as the fault code. A fault code of 00 http://www.bioscentral.com/misc/ibmdiag.htm indicates that no problem was found. Thus 200 means the system memory was tested. The 00 means that no fault was found. 201 would mean a memory error. 202 would mean memory address error; lines 00-15. This page is rather extensive and will be updated on a regular basis. Like all the other codes out there. If you know of any error codes that I am displaying incorrectly or that aren't here. Let me know and I'll get it corrected as soon as I can. Thanks to Mike Rose for erors 129 and 229! XRaptorTopic StarterGreenhorn 1-3-3-1 Phoenix BIOS Beep Code problem « on: October 02, 2008, 08:16:11 PM » I have an HP a000 that Im trying to repair. The computer will not boot. And I get a series of beeps. My computer used to work with these original RAM beep codes sticks:DDR 256mb SDRAMDDR Kingston 512mb SDRAMNote, there are only 2 RAM slots in my comp. Now, my computer will not boot. No splash screen, no POST menu, no flashing cursor, nothing. And when I pressed the power button, I heard a series of beeps. 1 beep, pause, followed by 3 beeps, pause, followed by another 3 beeps, pause, 1 beep. 1-3-3-1I looked up this beep error on google, and 1-3-3-1 means "28 Autosize DRAM". bios beep codes Here is where I found it:http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htmWell, I proceeded with taking out the 256 mb RAM and replacing it with a 512 mb stick. This gave me a total of 1GB ram. Miraculously, the computer booted up. However, it asked me to reset CMOS settings, but I ignored that and it loaded Windows. I installed Avast and restarted the computer. After it booted again, I left the computer on all night running a virus scan.I left for school this morning, and my mom tried loading up the internet on it. Of course, she didnt realize I didnt have internet hooked up to it. So the internet window froze, and she went to restart the comp. Sure enough, after it restarted she discovered that it wouldnt boot. EVEN WITH THIS RAM THAT WORKED LAST NIGHT!! It did the same beep sequence.I am incredibly frustrated. For over 2.5 hours, I have tried:-Trying each 512mb stick independently.-Removing BOTH RAM sticks and turning it on with no RAM.-Switching each 512 mb stick to a different slot.-Trying the 256mb RAM stick w/ the Kingston 512mb-Trying the 256mb with the other 512 mb-Just the 256mb independently, trying in both slots.-Removing the CMOS battery for over 5 minutes and putting it back in again.-Removing my video card.-Searching endlessly on the internet for a solution. And unfortunately, none of

Anyway, I am on a campaq presario 2200 laptop. I was running XP when i installed a regular update from windows and it totally crashed my computer. So much so that it damaged my hardware (though I am not sure what happened). Anyway, I tried formatting my hard drive several times and installing a fresh copy of XP, only to get the computer to freeze everytime. So i decided to try Ubuntu. Somehow, after several attemtps, i was able to install 9.04, and it seems to work generally well. Yet there are clearly some problems with the hard drive still. Sometimes, the computer freezes and it makes a repeated clicking sound. I ran the pheonix bios hard drive self test, and i get a #1-07 fail. But it seems that the more I use the computer, the less often the system crashes. My question is, does anyone know of a hardware diagnostic that might be able to fix this problem? Like i said, i am not particularly computer literate, but i saw this link, and assume it is correct: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...4101017AATNLYE I know it might
