Tried a brand new video card and I'm still getting the same beep code and no video at all. Any other ideas on what it could be? Yes/no?) 1) Check in the BIOS to make certain that the Video card is being selected as three long beeps during the post sequence on an intel bios are an indication of what type of issue? first choice. 2) Does the graphic card need an extra power connection, from the power supply, aside from the one in the edge connector? 3) If you used the same Motherboard & video card in the old case, was it ok then? If yes, then check very carefully how you are bolting the motherboard to the case. Check if you have enough standoff's under the board, as just leaving one out can cause problems. Normally you would have 4 or 6, but check your paperwork if you have any. Oct 24, 2011 #2 pedxing TS Rookie Topic Starter Ok, I just rebuilt it. I found a tiny spec of dried paste between the pins on CPU. Then I reseated the 4 RAM chips and very slowly, carefully put everything back together. SUCCESS Now, I wonder why I was getting "video error" code. Very strange! Oct 24, 2011 #3 KillingFreak TS Rookie pedxing said: ↑ Moved my motherboard/system to a new case and it won't POST correctly. (AMI BIOS) A power-on self-test (POST) is a process performed by firmware beep codes list or software routines immediately after a computer or other digital electronic device is powered on. This article mainly deals with personal computers, but many other embedded systems such http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/post-error-1-long-2-short-beeps-video-issue.172518/ as those in major appliances, avionics, communications, or medical equipment also have self-test routines which are automatically invoked at power-on. The results of tests run by the POST may be displayed on a panel that is part of the device, output to an external device, or stored for future retrieval by a diagnostic tool. Since a https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power-on_self-test self-test might detect that the system's usual human-readable display is non-functional, an indicator lamp or a speaker may be provided to show error codes as a sequence of flashes or beeps. In addition to running tests, the POST process may also set the initial state of the device from firmware. In the case of a computer, the POST routines are part of a device's pre-boot sequence and only once they complete successfully is the bootstrap loader code invoked to load an operating system.
