Hmm, instead of opening the ports for the programs, why not add the two executables boinc.exe and boincmanager.exe to the exceptions in the firewall? Also, can you check if your router is blocking BOINC connections? I tried disabling the iptables with no change. This has to be a Fedora 14 issue because boinc has been working just fine on Ubuntu 10.10. I've installed boinc-client and boinc-manager packages.
