Brother HL-2140 toner light stays on after toner was replaced in cartridge Posted brother hl 2140 toner light stays on by: Dennis S Date: November 15, 2010 11:20PM I put new toner in my Brother HL-2140 cartridge, but when I how to bypass 'toner life end' on brother put it back in the printer, the toner light stays on. I have done this several times with other Brother printers with no problem. I put black tape over the light sensors http://www.instructables.com/id/Brother-HL-2140-Toner-Life-End-Error-Hack/step4/Resetting-the-Printer/ after it didn't work the first time, but it didn't help. There were mentions of holding down reset buttons and turning back a knob in the general instruction sheet that came with the toner, but I couldn't find the corresponding parts on my cartridge. When I push the blue button to turn the printer on, it flashes normally and then I hear the high-pitched sound http://forums.macresource.com/read.php?1,1039867 like a page is going to print, but then the blue light goes off and the toner light comes on. Any suggestions? toner , i still get the drum / error message still ???2. i also clean the cornora wire , using the green tab 3. someone mention the toner level senor port , where is this located ??4. every other page is a paper jammedplease leave message at either place: [emailprotected] -- or [emailprotected]THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR TIME / HELP Respond to this 0 The drum/error is a drum error not sure why you would think the toner cartridge would fix the issue. I dont have one of those around but usually the corona wire cleaner is blue. I dont really like them becuase they dont do a good job. I usually use a damp Q-tip and alcohol. The toner level sensor port is on the right side of where the toner sits in the machine. For the error you described however you would need to check and clean the contacts for the drum on the left side of the inside of the machine. by nivek on Aug 24, 2009 at 7:09pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 but if it's a drum life error then you either need to replace it and/or reset the counter.to reset the drum counter, open the fron cover, hold down the start button until all lights lit up. then release the button and shut the front cover. by tk55 on Aug 24, 2009 at 9:17pm Add comment Please sign in to comment I tried TK55's steps and it didn't work for me.
