of the very first steps in the manual: printing the "test page." All of the LED lights were flashing, and it was simply unresponsive—and after a very, very lengthy sounding warm-up period. Then I decided to try the setup regardless; however, the lights brother hl 2270dw configuration page continued to flash and the printer was unresponsive to any print jobs I sent.BUT then I found

a temporary fix (below) in an Amazon review. It appears to be some kind of reset for low toner indication. It did work—but only temporarily. The

problem now is that the printer requires this annoying, mildly confusing reset every single time when switching on—and sometimes even after it sits idle for just several minutes.So. . . . Is there A. anyone who encountered this similar problem from day http://support.brother.com/g/b/faqend.aspx?c=us&lang=en&prod=hl2270dw_all&faqid=faq00002674_000 1 after purchase of this model?? and/or B. anyone who knows of a more permanent solution to this issue??P. S. I successfully installed the latest firmware update, but that didn't fix it. I also installed the latest drivers, but I'm guessing it's not a driver issue—since, again, the flashing lights occurred right out of the box before even hooking it up or setting up the wireless print feature. I do also wonder if the printer simply was damaged, since it came from the http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/75542 good gorilla-stomping folks at UPS and with virtually no extra shipment packaging besides the retailer box w/ the two Styrofoam pieces.Thank you so much for any help!*The very temporary fix found on Amazon:1. Open front cover & leave open.2. Turn Printer off.3. Hold GO button while turning P on. 4. Immediately release GO when lights on.5. Press GO 2 x's.6. When all lights on, press GO 5 x's.7. Wait for red Error light flash.8. Close cover. Respond to this 0 First thing you have to know is that the printer comes with a "starter" cartridge. That means that it has much less toner than a real cartridge. The way the cartridges work is that they have a flag gear on the end. When you insert the cartridge, the flag gear turns and trips a sensor and resets the printer. It only does it the first time and then the printer counts cycles and whether or not the cartridge is empty, it tells you to buy a new one. So, guess what? Since the "starter" cartridge has no need for a flag gear, there isn't one or you could just take the end off, rotate it to start position and you're good to go for another 500 or so pages. You are now left with 3 choices. 1, ship it back for exchange. Good luck with that. 2. buy a flag gear and toner refill kit on the internet. 3. Use this unconventional method to simulate a flag gear rese

This error is typically more serious than other fuser brother hl related messages. Most times this problem will actually result in replacement of the fusing assembly. The actual error is related to a fuser too hot message. The service manual advices to check the environment and make sure it is not too hot. I also would check what you are printing. Printing on specialty paper can cause the fusing assembly to overheat if done in high volumes. Plus brother hl 2270dw I would recommend checking the cooling vents and space around the machine. Make sure the vents aren't blocked and the machine has 4 to 6 inch clearance on all sides. Turn the machine off, let it sit 15 to 20 minutes then try again. If it continues to show this fuser error follow the instructions below for the manual reset procedure and replacement instructions.Maintenance Mode Entry : DCP = Press Menu, Start, UP arrow 4 times, MFC Press Menu, *, 2, 8, 6, 4These button sequences have to be done in a certain amount of time. I typically tell customers to get a beat in their head and press the sequence to the beat and do not try to read what the control panel says as you press the buttons. If done correctly the machine will beep, the lights will blink, and the Display will read Maintenance. When the machine reads maintenance press the 9 button twice ( 9,9 ). Pressing 9 twice will take you out of maintenance mode and start the normal warm-up procedure. ---If fuser replacement is needed then you will want to reset the Maintenance Counter for the Fuser Maintenance Mode: Press b
Easyink Support Assuming the fuser is OK it can sometimes be reset as follows: Make sure the printer has been left long enough for the fuser to cool (15mins or so). Turn on the power, holding the button until the "drum" light is glowing. Wait a moment, then press the button again and the printer should start a self diagnosis and print the results of the test.
