either place: [emailprotected] -- or [emailprotected]THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR TIME / HELP Respond to this 0 The brother hl 2140 printer troubleshooting drum/error is a drum error not sure why you would think the toner cartridge would fix the issue. I dont have one of those around but usually brother hl 2140 laser printer the corona wire cleaner is blue. I dont really like them becuase they dont do a good job. I usually use a damp Q-tip and alcohol. The toner level sensor port is on the right side of where the toner sits in the http://support.brother.com/g/b/producttop.aspx?c=us&lang=en&prod=hl2140_all machine. For the error you described however you would need to check and clean the contacts for the drum on the left side of the inside of the machine. by nivek on Aug 24, 2009 at 7:09pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 but if it's a drum life error then you either need to replace it and/or reset the counter.to reset the drum counter, open the fron cover, hold down the start button until all lights lit up. then release the button and shut the http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/63546 front cover. by tk55 on Aug 24, 2009 at 9:17pm Add comment Please sign in to comment I tried TK55's steps and it didn't work for me. Then I tried a variation and it did work. Here's what I did:(Essentially the cartridge/drum unit should not be in the printer when you reset it)1) Open front door2) Remove the cartridge/drum unit3) Hold down front button until all lights come on4) Put cartridge/drum unit back in5) Close the front doorThe Drum life should be reset.Hope this helps - unknown hello i just had this printer for 2 months , it first came with an factory toner which yield an 1,000 copies. I just bought a new generic toner, but still the same problemas for resetting the drum counter , i try that , it's doesn't work. PSS - I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT EVERY OTHER PAGE , THERE AN PAPER JAMMED TOO .THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR TIME /HELP - jbj168 0 if the printer has only done just over a 1000 pages, then it won't be a drum life error.when there's a paper jammed error, did you actually have a paper jammed? if it's a false alarm, it would be caused by high voltage arcing in the corona wire assembly. a very common problem with brother printers.i normally pull the drum cartridge apart to clean the charge assembly properly. it's very easy to pull apart. just make sure you don't break the corona wire in the process.btw, i strongly against using generic toner cartridge for brother machines. more trouble than it's worth. by tk

When I unplug the printer for an extended period of time (a couple hours) then turn it on again, it prints. Then when I try to print something else, the error light comes back on and won't print anymore. It's only the error light, not the drum or toner lights. No, it's not blinking, it's just a solid light. Expert: Freddy M. replied6 years ago. Are any of the other lights on or is it just like this? Ask Your Own Printers Question Customer: replied6 years ago. It's just like that. No other lights Expert: Freddy M. replied6 years ago. Ok that means there is something wrong with the paper tray. Turn the machine off and unplug it. Then remove all the paper from the machine. Blow out the rollers and the tray with compressed air 3 or 4 times. Once done plug the machine back in. Turn it on and then put paper in the tray. Then press the Go button. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please click "Accept” so I am paid for my time.
