The problem began after I did a forced termination of the Visual Studio C++ 6.0 after it freezed. Now every time I try to open or http://forums.codeguru.com/showthread.php?511224-Microsoft-Visual-C-MSDEV-EXE-Application-Error to add a file, an error massage appear saying that the program faced a problem and it will terminate. Giving three options weather to (or not to) send a report, or to debug. So if I choose the first two options, another error massage appears titled "Microsoft Visual C++: MSDEV.EXE - Application Error" and saying that "the instruction at 0x73d211a3 referenced memory at 0x00000004. the memory could not be read" and the VS shuts down. However, if I choose to debug, I get the following error "Unhandled exception in MSDEV.EXE(DEVSHL.DLL): 0xC0000005: Access Violation". I am using Windows XP SP.3 and note that the VS was working properly before I did the 5th "end task". Any ideas ? MSDEV.EXE - Application Error The instruction at "0x50037718" referenced memory at "0xfffffff8". The memory could not be "read". Click on "OK" to terminate the program. Click on "Cancel" to debug the program. I'm starting Visual C++ from the "Start Programs Menu". I'm running Windows 2000 SP2. I've tried a number of different things to resolve this problem. I've had no luck in doing so. Please provide any assistants that you can. I'm starting to move my development environment from Windows/NT 4.0 SP 4 to Windows 2000. Thanks for your help. By the way, have you installed any anti-virus tools on your computer? Sometimes they would conflict with VC. If you delete or rename them, MSDEV will start, but you will lose some customizations (toolbars, tab settings, fonts etc.). This is my experience, but of course things may be different on your system. Lars Sat, 15 Nov 2003 16:02:54 GMT Page 1 of 1 [ 3 post ] Relevant Pages 1. msdev.exe application error on startup 2.
