got the following error 6500. I have absolutely no idea what this means and I can't seem to find any info on it for my type of printer. Does anyone know what this error code means and how do I fix it? I

have had this maching for almost 2 years and it has been no trouble at all in the canon mp830 error code 6a00 past therefore I would like to keep it if at all possible. Any help would be great. anyone have a fix yet for the Canon Pixma MP830 error code 6500? Mine has been a great work horse for a few years, and all of a sudden today when I added paper to the paper cartridge, reinserted it, then pressed "OK", then pressed the copy button, I got the error code 6500 message. It finally came on but now it reads "Error 6500"..Does anyone out there know what this means?? It's not mentioned in the Canon Manual??? the machine kinda turns on but will not function in any way. If resetting by Canon's procedure quoted below doesn't clear the error, (and from your edit it looks like it won't) then it would appear the logic board has been damaged, presumably by a power supply spike caused by the faulty mains cable. As with most modern peripherals, the cost of a repair would likely exceed the cost of getting a new printer. Before committing to replacing a logic board, ensure that the error has not been generated and held by spurious external signals. Reseat the ink cartridges. Remove any memory card(s). Check any flaps / covers are properly closed (eg. CD printing cover). Turn off the printer and disconnect the power lead and USB lead to the computer. Leave the printer disconnected from power and data signals for several minutes, allowing time for any static electrical signals present on the logic board to discharge. Reconnect printer and test.
