It has worked flawlessly up until now. Code 44 set (Blower motor lockout) Tried putting the unit in fan only mode. Still sets code 44. The blower turns freely but does not attempt to start. Tech came out and said I have a bad blower motor. I watched him check the blower then after he left I got the troubleshooting guide out. He did not follow the procedure outlined

Category:HVAC Share this conversation Expert: BillyHvac replied4 years ago. Hello,This means the ECM (variable speed) motor is out of range for the setting it is in.Unfortunately this is not a homeowner friendly service to do.It requires http://www.justanswer.com/hvac/6vu4b-error-44-carrier-infinity-unit-coil-not-frozen.html an ecm motor tester to make specific recommendations. Here is a manual describing the faults, but I would call for service and explain the fault code so the tech that is sent brings the proper test equipmentmanual-http://www.xpedio.carrier.com/idc/groups/public/documents/techlit/58mvp-6sm.pdf Ask Your Own HVAC Question Customer: replied4 years ago. is there any thing i can do to get the unit to run in the high mode - i'm technically able to adj or fix this unit if i know what to do - i've had this problem years ago, during a heating cycle, water was in the bottom of the enclosed burner " viewing" area Expert: BillyHvac replied4 years ago. This is strictly related to the circuit board and the programmed module.Unfortunately one can be technically able, but without the ecm tester we dont know which direction to go.I am not trying to avoid your question at all....it is just that we cannot adjust or fix until the motor tester identifies the fault. Many times it is module, other times it is programming issue.....but until the fault is identified we cannot proceed, and we cannot identify until tester gives readout. The dip switch settings are irrelevent when the module or programming fails. Noticed when I got home the house wasn't cool and no air flow coming from the vents. Came down to check the carrier infinity furnace. Yep Frozen! My first thought was filter or low freon. The furnace is flashing a code in amber. 4 short and 1 long flash. Book indicates blower motor fault. Any ideas? Thank for the help Advertisement 12-02-2007, 08:48 PM #2 MaxPierre Newbie Join Date: Dec 2007 Posts: 11 Rewards Points: 10 View MaxPierre's Album Me too! I seem to be having a similar problem. I got codes "44" and "41". When I get both, I'm instructed to check the wiring carrier infinity fault to the blower. The HVAC tech tells me that the blower is blown (pun intended) and it will need to be replaced. I also followed the suggestions as if I got each code individually. In this case I was instructed to make sure the registers was opened (which are all open now as opposed to only a few being open). I was also told to check the filter... I did, and though dirty it didn't seem to be the problem. So, I'm in a similar boat... any other suggestions other than replacing the blower? Turn your furnace switch off then on now that you've changed the filter. If it does not start you'll need to call a service tech. Last edited by Summit Heating & Air; 12-03-2007 at 12:49 AM.
