VPN Service has not been started. Please start this service and try again. Of course the service is started; http://superuser.com/questions/410471/the-cisco-vpn-service-has-not-been-started so that's not very helpful. It's been working for years (two years), but today i go to use it and it's borken. Some people have suggested that the Internet Connection Sharing service can interfere with Cisco and should be disabled; it already was. Edit: Windows 2000 Professional Have restarted the service, have rebooted multiple times, have manually run vpngui.exe, vpnclient.exe, ipsecdialer.exe, nothing ever appears. windows cisco cisco-vpn-client share|improve this question edited Apr 30 '12 at 7:57 Matteo 4,61912340 asked Apr 9 '12 at 19:42 Ian Boyd 9,9073192133 I got the same error and i have tried all the recommendations but none of them worked for me. tried to start the cisco vpn client: Cisco VPN Client “ERROR 56: THE CISCO SYSTEMS, INC. VPN SERVICE HAS NOT BEEN STARTED” http://www.itxperience.net/en/cisco-vpn-client-error-56-the-cisco-systems-inc-vpn-service-has-not-been-started/ I had not made any particular changes to the pc networking, I https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-cisco-system-vpn.690063/ had not added other vpn client, I had not changed anything about the virtual networking (I have vmware workstation on board) in short, I haven't do nothing. Trying to remember what possible changes I had made in recent days it came to my mind that I had enabled cisco vpn the sharing of connectivity on the network interface to be able to navigate to another device a couple of days before the error occurred (do you remember that option in the properties of the network card?). I then tried to disable it and voila! The cisco vpn client started to work again….. WELL!!!! When I click the icon to start the VPN client, I get an error that reads: Error 56: The Cisco Systems, Inc. VPN Service has not been started. Please start this service and try again. Click to expand... Does anyone know how to remedy this? Thanks for any and all help. Make sure that Cisco Systems, Inc VPN Service status is Started. If it's not, right click on the service and click Start.
