an interesting error: The above comes up when trying to install Cisco VPN Client 5.0.07.0410 on Windows XP SP3 (so far). I didn't have this issue on Windows 7 SP1. To get rid of the error message download Fix.mst http://adriank.org/cisco-vpn-client-5-0-07-0410-error-1720-there-is-a-problem-with-this-windows-installer-package/ file and run the .msi against it: MS DOS START /WAIT MSIEXEC.EXE /I vpnclient_setup.msi TRANSFORMS=Fix.mst /QUIET 1 START /WAIT MSIEXEC.EXE /I vpnclient_setup.msi TRANSFORMS=Fix.mst /QUIET Quick screenshots showing what has been done in the .mst to fix the http://itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com/itanswers/vpn-error-721-2/ issue: Enjoy! One for Cisco support to answer I guess. Holmz April 25, 2013 at 4:29 AM Tried your fix.mst file but having trouble runnning it in command prompt with fix.mst placed in the extracted unzipped cisco folder on desktop. just went to command prompt and to that desktop directory and ran your START /WAIT MSIEXEC.EXE /I vpnclient_setup.msi TRANSFORMS=Fix.mst /QUIET in the command prompt. Am i missing a step? I also tried through Orca editing which didnt work . Please advise Adrian Kielbowicz Post authorApril 25, 2013 at 7:04 AM Hi Holmz, .mst file was generated in Orca so no need to edit it anymore, you simply have to run it against the .msi to apply the settings. Are both .msi and .mst files in the same directory? If not them you will need to provide full path to .mst like here

It hangs on verifying the username and password. Another machine on the same network, using the credentials of the user who has the problem connects straight away. This has led me to believe that the problem is entirely with the one machine. I've updated the NIC driver with no success. I have created a new VPN connection but get the same results. I have even shut down the firewall on the local machine without gaining anything. This connection was working in the past. I have not been able to put a finger on the problem and I am looking at doing a complete re-install of the OS right now. The error returned is "721: The remote computer did not respond." I did check ADUC and the user is allowed to connect remotely.
