to ask what the following automation errorespecifically means, which is raised when trying to createan instance of VB-DLL-class:"Automation Error 08x004011, ClassFactorycannot supply requested class"I'd seems to me that there is a mismatch between thetypelib versioning information registered and the one really availablein the typelib-image, and/or, after having broken theCOM-contract in a VB-DLL by having changed theinterface-definition - by e.g adding methods, changing signatures -a new GUID is created for a certain class/interface, but the infoin the registry still points to the old guid.because the new tl didn't properly registered. Can anyone shed some light on this issue?MfGAlex Igor Tandetnik 2007-09-27 11:55:39 UTC PermalinkRaw Message Post by Alexander MuellerSince here's where i can find COM/ActiveX professionalsi'd like to ask what the following automation errorespecifically means, which is raised when trying to create"Automation Error 08x004011, ClassFactorycannot supply requested class"That would be CLASS_E_CLASSNOTAVAILABLE, which is returned byDllGetClassObject when given a CLSID it doesn't recognize. Figure outhow and why you have a DLL registered as a server for a CLSID it doesn'tin fact serve. In a VB project, go to Project | Properties | Component and make sure toselect Binary Compatibility. Otherwise VB generates new GUIDs foreverything every time you make any change.--With best wishes,Igor TandetnikWith sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine. However, this is notnecessarily a good idea. It is hard to be sure where they are going toland, and it could be dangerous sitting under them as they flyoverhead. -- RFC 1925 Alexander Mueller 2007-09-27 12:51:09 UTC PermalinkRaw Message Post by Igor TandetnikPost by Alexander MuellerSince here's where i can find COM/ActiveX professionalsi'd like to ask what the following automation errorespecifically means, which is raised when trying to create"Automation Error 08x004011, ClassFactorycannot supply requested class"That would be CLASS_E_CLASSNOTAVAILABLE, which is returned byDllGetClassObject when given a CLSID it doesn't recognize.
