Codigo De Error 0x8004ff07
an error “0x8004ff07”. So I closed MSE and tried to reinstall the application, but I get the same error over and over even after restarting. So the solution that worked for me was going into the registry editor. (Start>Run>Regedit) finding the MSE registry key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Microsoft Security Essentials and deleting the key. Afterwards I downloaded MSE again from the Microsoft website ( MSE Page ) and reinstalled the application. Worked like a charm. Updated MSE with no problems and now I am back to the nice green “Computer status – Protected” icon in my taskbar. Additional Info: System: Windows XP SP3 – 32bit Like this:Like Loading... my virus scanner absent. In fact according to the shortcut and Add/Remove Programs Microsoft Security Essentials was gone. So I poked around in the logs some, hoping against hope I didn't have some weird http://iponderus.com/2010/03/microsoft-security-essentials.html backdoor thingy that had uninstalled it for me. According to the logs it http://www.velocityreviews.com/threads/ms-security-essentials-install-problems.736408/ was uninstalled as part of some Windows Update hijinks. Ironically I commented just this morning that I always advised people to stay right up to date rather than trying to micromanage that stuff. Well something went wrong with the update and MSE could not be reinstalled. I got no notice of this from Windows codigo de Update scarily enough. Once I knew that it was Microsoft removing my virusscanner I felt much better. So I downloaded a new installer and fired it up. It failed (and failed and failed). Eventually I did a Google search on the error code, "0x8004ff07". It looks like this is something of a common problem, and other people have had it. What wasn't real clear was how to fix codigo de error it. Somewhere, and I apologize because I've lost the link so I can't credit them, I read something about removing the uninstall registry key, "[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Microsoft Security Essentials]". Well though it doesn't appear to work for everyone, that worked for me. After that I was able to reinstall MSE. Phew. Your solution worked for me, but after I did what you said and tried to run the installer, I couldn't finished it again because of another error. bit version, but I imagine most of the stuff on the PC is 32 bit applications, etc. Tried posting this to the MS Security Essentials Commiunity Forum, but apparently you have to sign up first for a Windows Live ID. Don't want to sign up for a Windows Live ID, as have had all sorts of problems with it in the past. Have been trying to install their Security Essentials. Tried the 32 bit and the 64 bit version downloads. Have the same error message each time. " Can't complete the Microsoft Security Essentials Installer An error has prevented... Error Code 0x8004FF07 " To the best of my knowledge, I do not have any other virus protection software running on the PC. Any thoughts as to what might be the problem, or things to try, would be appreciated.
