In Maya preferences, under “Applications”, at the very bottom is an item named “Default Command Port” that you can choose to enable or disable. Named “commandportDefault” Disable it and you wont see the msg in the sript editor anymore __________________ Avatar Challenge Winner 2010 Last edited by daverave : 29-09-2011 at 06:02 PM. when I try to do a batch render using Maya 2015, which is installed on the internal OWC SSD (OS 10.8.4):Batch render // Error: line 1: Socket error creating command port: xxxxxxxxxxxx.attlocal.net:7835Although I am not using a render farm (am batch rendering locally), Maya apparently receives/gives (?) rendering data via the Internet that loops (?) back to my local http://simplymaya.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36415 computer. Seems like a lot of people are having this same problem, but no one has a definitive answer (e.g. Autodesk). Since it may be a firewall issue, I have tried modifying my att firewall to allow reception from Autodesk Maya 2015 but am running into password login issues with att uverse that are not yet resolved. also, I have just added Maya 2015 to the list of allowable applications in my local computer https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7065290?start=0&tstart=0 firewall. Plan to test the batch render from Maya 2015 on the OWC SSD. A suggestion from an Autodesk forum was as follows:++++++++++++++++++++++++++++03-19-2014 06:10 PM in reply to: xxxI fixed this by editing my /etc/hosts file and adding the hostname of the machine to the 127.0.0.1 entry.Terminal Commands: (Linux / Mac) 1.hostnamethis will print out something like mymachinename OR mymachinename.local. Copy this name.2. sudo nano /etc/hosts3. look for the line that starts with 127.0.0.14. Add the output from the hostname command to the end of that line5. To write and close the file hit Ctrl + o then Ctrl + x++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Questions:1. Is this advisable?if so, 2. My hosts document first line is 127.0.01 localhost Would I replace the word "localhost" with my machinename? Or would I add the machinname after the word "localhost"?3. Should I continue trying to customize the att firewall instead of all the above?Any help greatly appreciated. This is a Maya issue that can happen with any renderer, including mental ray. Like many https://arnoldsupport.com/2013/09/25/mtoa-maya-socket-error-creating-command-port/ other Maya users, I started getting this error when I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nZJZpzv39o tried to batch render: // Error: line 1: Socket error creating command port SOLIDANGLE-PC:7835 (10048). I checked the port 7835 with netstat, and that gave me a PID (process ID) of 109736 C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2014\bin>netstat -ano | find "7835" TCP command port XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:7835 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 109736 But unfortunately, there didn't seem to be any process with that PID, so I couldn't kill it to free up the port. tasklist | find "109736" came up empty; there was no such PID in the Task Manager or Process Explorer; and TCP View said that socket error creating PID was non-existent. I was resigned to having to reboot my machine until I saw this. Then I used Process Explorer to find the process that was referencing the "non-existent" PID, and when I killed that process, I could batch render again from Maya.
