Computer Determined To Be Not In A Site 0x77f

My Forums Answered by: DSGetSiteName failed: Status = 1919 0x77f error: computer determined to be not in a site. error code 0x77f. ERROR_NO_SITENAME Windows Server > Directory Services Question 0 Sign in to vote I have a large dsgetdcname network with 100's of subnets. Currently within AD Sites and Services the Default-First-Site-Name is the only site configured without any subnets added, so in simple terms

Subnet Calculator

it is a default out of the box configuration. A colleague wanted to test site aware group policies, so I configured a site based on his own subnet. My computer is a member of a different subnet on running nltest /dsgetsite from a command prompt I receive DSGetSiteName failed: Status = 1919 0x77f ERROR_NO_SITENAME So it looks like once you start specifying subnets in AD Sites and Services you have to add all the other subnets that you have on your network or AD will consider that you only have the subnets you have configured. Am I correct? thanks. Wednesday, October 13, 2010 8:47 AM Reply | Quote Answers 1 Sign in to vote Howdie! It can be as generic as 10.170.0.0/16. The member servers and DC are located in the same datacenter, and are on a separate "site" in AD. Running DCDiag shows no problems, and we've confirmed that the servers and DCs have network connectivity with each other. Running nslookup on the member servers shows the proper DC listed as the name server in each case. LDAP authentication seems to be working, however, Kerberos authentication has stopped working. Basically, all of the key internal services have stopped. Here are specifics on some of the problems we are having with member servers: Exchange - Topology Service cannot find any domain controllers. Therefore, the Exchange Information Store cannot start. SharePoint - Authentication is failing at the IIS level and between IIS and SQL (this farm has been up for mutliple years). Additional troubleshooting: NLTEST /DCLIST:domainname - No DC can be found to get a DC List NLTEST /Server:Servername - Both DCs Complete Successfully. NLTEST /DSGetDC:Domain - Commands compl

Posted on 2012-06-04 Exchange Active Directory 1 Verified Solution 8 Comments 2,219 Views Last Modified: 2012-06-13 We have a problem with an Exchange 2010 server which has started to report that it's unable to determine which site it's in. Shortly after the users are unable to sign in to OWA. We get a wealth of error in the event log. Mainly 1025 and 2501 and 1005 and 1009. Users can log on again and work for a while if we restart the Exchange System Attendant service but shortly after the event log errors start and then, a while later, OWA stops working. While it's working "Nltest /DsGetSite" returns success. When it stops "Nltest /DsGetSite" returns "Getting DC name failed: Status = 1919 0x77f ERROR_NO_SITENAME" What's weird is that we keep fairly good records about system changes and there have been no changes in the last few days that would cause this oddity to suddenly start working. The Exchange server is in a data centre, along with an AD GC which does nothing but act as the AD box for the Exchange server. Those two servers are linked via VPN to two other offices, with an AD GC at each other site. Three sites in total, all with at least one AD GC. The AD Sites and Services shows Three subnets, each assigned to the correct site, with the correct server in each site. I've tried changing the DNS entry on the Exchange box to point to each of the AD servers in turn but that doesnt help. I've also checked that IPv6 is enabled on the Exchange box. I've also tried changing the preferredserver in the Exchange PS but that doesn't help either. ANy suggestions? The fact that it works, and then doesnt, and can be made to work again by restarting the SA service makes me feel it isn't a permission issue in the AD itself or a general DNS issue. I'm thinking that perhaps some DNS records are off somewhere but I can't see anything obvious.
