use axis2 version 1.5.1 (I am not allowed to use a newer version) and tomcat 6. I get an error when following the tutorial from this url: http://www.eclipse.org/webtools/community/tutorials/BottomUp Axis2WebService/bu_tutorial.html The error occurs after I click "Finish", as instructed at the bottom of the section labeled "25. Next page is the Client Configuration Page. Accept the defaults and click Finish. " After I click finish, it seems that the client installs correctly (0 errors, 2 unknown msgs, 5 warnings). But after I have done this, I get an error (popup dialogue) every time I click or give focus to the Console view. The error I get is: --cut-- An error has occured. See error log for more details. An error has occured when activating this view Details: An error has occurred when activating this view java.lang.NullPointerException --cut-- Eclipse's error log is shown below. Anybody can answer The best answers are voted up and rise to the top Eclipse: “Show console view” failing at application start up vote 0 down vote favorite I've been having this problem on/off for the last few days: I start up https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/t/207977/ Eclipse and try to debug my Java Application from the debug button at the top (the bug next to the "play" icon). The application starts, but after a while this pop up is displayed: If I open the debug view I can see the application and all the threads are running, I can make requests to the application (it's a web server) and it's working fine. But the console view looks like this: When it should contain a toolbar and have printed some output. I can http://superuser.com/questions/566368/eclipse-show-console-view-failing-at-application-start stop and restart the application, and the same thing happen. It makes no difference whether I "run" or "debug" the application, or where I start it from (debug menu, debug view, package explorer, F11, etc). The only way I can fix the problem is to close Eclipse and open it again. Just close "Console" tab from views, go to Windows -> Show View -> Console. Sometimes the listener code for Console view gets crazy and start throwing exceptions. Hope it helps. However, when I try to open Gonsole after restarting Eclipse, the "Show Console View" action fails with the following error message: 'Show Console View' has encountered a problem. An internal error has occurred. Unrecognized formal key name: ⌃SPACE ⌥/ The error show console view happens when I select Git Console from the Open Console drop-down of the Console View. Do the same from the Team context menu when right-clicking on a project with Git repository. I use Eclipse Luna on OS X 10.8.5 x86_64. The gonsole team is on vacation right now, but we'll look into it as soon as we return - or if the weather changes to all-rainy (which I hope it doesn't). This seems to be a Mac-only problem - at least on Windows and Linux/Gtk it works just fine.. I can't promise any quick results as we have to find a Mac first to reproduce the issue. Did you see a stacktrace with the error message, maybe in the Error Log? Usually the System.out and Sytem.err output prints to a Console view for the Websphere console. However it suddenly stopped printing to the Console and repeatedly complaints bold"Show Console View" Error bold. See attached image for the details... Other consoles (eg: SVN repository) do print correctly. The log is still being outputted to the System.out file within the profile for my websphere server, but this is not as convenient.
