A dirty disc, 2. A scratched disc 3. A poor quality disc (cheap media if it happens during the "Burn" section of your work) 4. A bad disc from the Mfgr. It can also be from a bad optical component in your drive. At this time I don't believe it's your drive at all. If you recently purchased this disc new from a store, I would return it as defective if just cleaning and the proper use of DVD Decrypter doesn't get the job done. I'd like you to check your DVD Decrypter's settings. First, it should be version 3.5.1.0. Go to "Tools", "Settings", set everything to "Default". Then in the "General" tab change, "Removal Method" from "Normal" to "Aggressive", in "File Mode", "tick" Remove PUO's." For ripping in the "ISO Read Mode", "tick" "Remove PUO's" there also. in the "CSS" tab, under "CSS Cracking Method", choose "Brute Force ~> I/O Key Exchange" and "On Failure" choose "Yes". . IMPORTANT: In the "I / O" tab, in the bottom right, "tick" the box which says, "Ignore read errors". This is an excellent setting for dealing with scratched discs which may cause ripping problems. If your just doing a straight copy with no copy protection from one DVD to another, try Nero. Shrink is only necessary for compressing DVD9 to DVD5. __________________ AMD 64 4400+ X2 'Toledo' @ 2.6Ghz DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert 2x 1024Mb DDR OCZ PC4000 Gold 2x Sparkle 7800GTX 256Mb DDR3 in SLI (513/1280) 2x Arctic NV Silencer 5 rev 3 120G Seagate SATA 250G Seagate SATA Benq DW1640 Swiftech Extreme Liquid Cooling Kit 24" Dell LCD Microsoft Vista Ultimate RTM v6 build 6000 04-02-2005 #3 JSD New on Forum Join Date: Jan 2005 Posts: 6 Re: DVD SHRINK PROBLEM: "Data error (cyclic redundancy check)" Try copying DVD to HDD with AnyDVD. Find out what file it isn't copying and copy files before and after that file into a folder and see if you can re-author or even do a full backup of that folder with DVD Shrink. I had one file that wouldn't copy on a backup I was doing and this worked for me. Hope this helps. Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Failed to read the file "D:\" Data error (cyclic redundancy check). I guess these few DVD's just have some extra security features that jam up the http://www.sega-16.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-12016.html ripping process! Anyone familiar w/ this problem??? Disney movies seem to always do this. At the moment I was trying to rip Twilight (which I rented for my girlfriend), and it gave me that same error message. ^ http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2008/02/dvd_rip_automates_oneclick_dvd_ripping-2/ 64k06-03-2010, 04:34 PMTwilight! well thats why it error'd the PC has better taste than your misses. I ALWAYS immediately rip my DVDs and BluRays so that I can play them on the computer and skip the damn commercials. If I want commercials, I'll watch public TV. If you have kids, it's even more imperative that you rip your DVDs and BluRays - the kids WILL destroy any disc you let them play within a few days. Normally yes. But I've seen some recent DVD's with improper filesystems, as it shows the DVD as like 90GB in size or something like that, which is impossible. MN12BIRD06-03-2010, 07:56 PMDVD Shrink only has basic (and out dated) DVD decryption built in. Any modern DVD should cause it to halt. You need a separate decrypter like AnyDVD to get around it. AnyDVD will run in the background in between your DVD Drive and software like DVD Shrink. Then as far as DVD Shrink is concerned there is no encryption on the DVD it's ripping. AnyDVD also works with HD-DVD and Bluray and it will not only get rid of any encryption/CRC errors it also gets around region coding and macro-vision. Since it runs in the background it

All you need to do is insert your DVD, run DVD Rip, and let it take care of the rest. Why? A while back I explained why I'd soured on optical media, the gist of which was the ease with with DVDs are damaged. Sick of scratched, skippy DVDs, I put together a simple AutoHotkey script that automated DVD rips in conjunction with a freeware application called DVD Shrink. I've since gone back and drastically improved the original DVD Rip application complete with options and improved automation. DVD Rip Automated DVD Backup Version: 0.2 Released: February 12, 2008 Creator: Adam Pash License: DVD Rip is licensed under the GNU Public License. If you'd like to take a look at the source, you can download it here. What it does: Automates the process of ripping and backing up DVDs to your hard drive in conjunction with the freeware application DVD Shrink. See the video below for a better idea of how it works. Again, DVD Shrink is the application doing the actual ripping. DVD Rip just makes the process completely painless. I originally created it so that I could insert a DVD in my media center PC, run DVD Rip from the media center, and then let everything rip in the background. DVD Shrink normally compresses the DVD image by about half, so you retain the entire menu structure while taking much less space. As I said above, the reason I rip every DVD is to avoid dealing with scratches. Normally a rip will smooth over those unreadable section without any issue, so after DVD Rip and DVD Shrink are finished, it's going to be a perfect, playa
