Old one is 80 GB and I formatted it and the new one is 160 GB and they are both Western Digital hard drives. The 160 GB I was just going to use as extra storage. I also have a dvd writer data error cyclic that is new, it is made by lite on, model is LH-20A1P33C, I did have a cd rw/dvd rom drive but I took it out because it couldn't be read. I don't have to have it right since I have the dvd writer now-Is that correct?I have 1 GB memory on my system. I have one partition on the 80 GB drive and it is C: During windows xp home with sp2 installation I get this error: Source: System Setup Log - (C:\WINDOWS\setuperr.log)Error:SXS.DLL: Syntax error in manifest or policy file "D:\i386\asms\10\MSFT\WINDOWS\GDIPLUS.MAN" on line 4.***Error:Installation failed D:\I386\asms. The disc boots to setup fine, I created a new partition and proceeded to install. Setup copied some files over and then rebooted. Upon booting, setup continues and within a minute or two I receive the error "Data error (cyclic redundancy check)". Clicking OK shows more detail: --- Error: Installation Failed: D:\I386\asms. Error Message : Data error (cyclic redundancy check). Fatal Error: One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed. --- I thought it might be a problem with the optical drive so I swapped in a different one, but I received the same error. Thinking the disc was bad, I returned the disc to ZipZoomFly for an exchange. I eventually get the replacement... I assumed they simply replaced the disc because they sent me back the same product key. In the meantime I had installed Windows XP x64 edition beta so that kept me happy. I decided to wipe x64 off and reinstall the OEM disc, and I get the same stupid error above. Now I'm really frustrated and I don't know what to think. Did ZZF send the same bad disc back to me thinking I wouldn't notice? Or is there something with these OEM discs that just don't agree with Pioneer optical drives? Well, I'm now beyond the 30-day replacement period for ZZF. I'm looking for suggestions... should I try and get a replacement disc from Microsoft? Anyone else experience this kind of problem before? Since Microsoft does not replace OEM C
