In addition, the air conditioning does not work...blows hot air (blower controls work fine). After reading some things on the internet, I attempted to reset the computer by disconnecting the battery...left it disconnected for an hour. Symptoms did not go away. The tachometer is working fine, the fuel gage works fine, temp and battery gages are fine. A dealer I spoke with suggested that a connector on the side of the transmission may have gotten disconnected or loose... My questions: "Has anyone any experience or suggestions with similar problems?" and "Where might this connector be?". Thanks! Back to top Lose this advertisement by becoming a member. Analog Speedo(gage not bathing suit!) and digatil odometer do not work. some controls on hvac are not working properly either. Anyone have a clue as to what this means and what I can possible check before taking it to a dealer?http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=2080 Logged Joel5.0 El Hombre Administrator Big Block Offline Posts: 22510 Location: Puerto Rico Miracles?.... by appointment only! Re: What does "Fuel Computer Data Managment Error" mean? « Reply #1 on: May 21, 2007, 08:31:43 am » The system has a problem in the network.....there are a few modules or computers that interact to control and keep track of everything. In your case, looks like there's a problem in the REM (Rear Electronic Module) and the instrument panel.....or an intermittent fuel sender, causing the system to simply go .....since it losses track of the fuel level in the tank. Do suggest to take it to a competent shop, or the dealer....mis-diagnosis in those setups could reeeeaaally get expensive. ....regarding the electronics in your Windstar.... Hi data error Customer,I am John, a Ford dealer technician.I hope I can help solve your problem quickly and accurately. There is a common problem where the cruise control switch will short out and cause fuse 10 under the dash to blow. Check this fuse and if it is blown replace the brake pressure switch. It is located on the underside of the master cylinder. These cost around $15. It is also possible that this is covered by a recall. If you could fuel computer data post your vin number I can run it to see if it has the recall. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask, it's what I'm here for!-important to me so please leave accurate feedback for others to see my job performance.-Thank you,John McJustAnswer Expert Ask Your Own Ford Question Customer: replied6 years ago. I checked fuse 10 and it is indeed blown....so do I need to replace the fuse AND the brake pressure switch? This problem causes the "fuel computer error"? Also the VIN # XXXXX XXXXX Expert: John Mc replied6 years ago. You need to at least disconnect the switch and replace the fuse. Yes it will cause the fuel computer error because it cannot read the fuel level from the cluster. Sorry you don't have the recall but as I said this is an inexpensive part and actually pretty easy to repair. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask, it's what I'm here for!-important to me so please leave accurate feedback for others to see my job performance.-Thank you,John McJustAnswer Expert John Mc and 2 other Ford Specialists are ready to help you Ask your own question now Customer: replied6 years ago.
