Fuel Flow Data Error
panel says gear display data error lincoln continental "Fuel Flow Data Error" Scanner shows no codes gear data error found. I have called several Lincoln dealerships and no-one knows what this means. Any suggestions would be helpfull! Towncar03-27-2008, 06:31 PM..no-one knows what this means.... Bunch of morons... Two possibilities exist here, both can cause the same error code. 1st) and most likely the Fuel Pump Relay is not functioning. 2nd) since it gets its command to 'run' from the PCM, the PCM could be the cause. Fuel Pump Relay The fuel pump relay supplies power to the fuel pump when the powertrain control module (PCM) grounds the relay during START and engine running conditions. You can simulate this 'grounding' operation to determine if the problem is coming from the PCM or the Relay. Also, Just to be on the safe side, ignoring this error code for the time being, check the Inertia Fuel Shutoff (IFS) Switch to be sure it's not tripped. Since this revolves around Fuel Pressure, you'll eventually be testing for pressure in the fuel rails as part of this diagnosis as well. Add your comment to this topic! So the fuel pump is working correctly? The message center usually measures fuel flow (for average mpg, etc) based upon fuel level info from the fuel level sender in the tank to determine how much fuel has been used for mpg stats. I will confirm how the 2002 Continental calculates fuel flow and mpg. Is your fuel gauge reading consistent?. When you fill-up does the amount of fuel purchased match to the fuel level shown by the gauge (i.e. your 20 US gal tank should take about 10 gallons to fill when the gauge registers 1/2 full)? Does the fuel level change in big drops, or takes a long time to register a fill-up? 1995 Lincoln Continental I have a 1995 Lincoln continental 4.6L with about 200000 miles. Ive had the car for about 3 years now and whenever it gots kinda hot outside, (about 90) the car starts acting up. The rpms would drop really low like the car was about to stall out and then they would jump really high causing the car to jerk. Sometimes the car would stall but would start right back up again. Well 2 days ago I took it out and it was doing the same thing I diddnt pay much attention to it due to the fact that I had not had many problems with it in the past, thinking it would stop after I drove for a few minutes. So needless to say, that was not the case at all, the car died in the middle of the highway and would not start again. The display reads "fuel flow data error" well, I called my dad who is a mechanic and can usually help with this he had me check to see if the fuel pump was still working. I could only do this by ear and it sounded like it was working to me. He then had me check to see if the engine was getting gas and it was not so I replaced the fuel filter, reset the fuel shut-off switch and the the car still would not start. I checked the relay under the hood, it was still good. So I checked to see if the engine was getting fuel again and this time it was but again, the car would not start. I called my dad back and he had me check the spark plug wires to see if I could see a spark jump, there was nothing. So this is where I stand, I do not have alot of money at the moment and I dont want to Have to Tow the car somethere to get it fixed. So if anyone has any information that could help me I would greatly appreciate it.
