The only two places it appears when it is plugged in is the dik management and in devices.I don't know if this is important but my cat at one point knocked the drive over onto a hard surface a few days prior to the problem.I really don't want to lose the hours spent riping all my CD's on to the drive. :(Please does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can eith fix this or at the very least get me to the point where I can transfer all my data off the drive onto another?Thank you very much Tuesday, June 30, 2009 11:26 AM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum. After performing the CHKDSK /R, the situation was getting worst and the E: drive disappered and never shown again in My Computer... I really want to cry now...I used the tool testdisk and it shows "Partition: Read error" when trying data error cyclic to analyze the partition. Before performing the CHKDSK /R, testdisk indicated a green light on my partition... Apparently CHKDSK /R has spoilted everything! I am very regret now and I shoud not tried chkdsk on windows 7... The testdisk can't be used now to repair my ext harddisk since it can't detect the partition any longer....Then, I came across to this thread which saying that Knoppix might help. I have burnt Knoppix.ISO into a disc and boot knoppix. However, Knoppix cannot detect my external harddisk... Knoppix works fine and managed to detect my friend's ext disk, but not mine... heartbroken...http://www.computing.net/answers/ha...I am really out of idea now how to recover all my data... Can you please help? Thanks. I'm now on second computer that running very well, and here is my external hard disk that is "not initialized" and "unallocated".. that says in Disk Management, MyComputer. So, when i press 'Yes' to go to initialize hdd i got message: Cyclic redundancy check error. I tryed to recover partitions with more than 4 softwares and results was good, my partitions is on exellent status! But, some softwares told me that my hdd must have MBR volume to recover partitions.. I have files, important files that i must get back like photos and docs.. Here are screenshots of problems.. Hi kindle, Did you try with the free version of this ? http://www.partitionwizard.com.....nager.html Reports: · Posted 3 years ago Top kindle Posts: 4 This post has been reported. Thanks for reply Lighthouse I tryed that MiniTool software, and i got pretty good results! First, quick scanned succesfully for lost partitions and than it shows me what it found (2 partitions) and thats great!! But, when i succesfully finished and apply at the end, nothing happens! : ( And, i saw that 2 partitions are on "Lost/Deleted" Status. Maybe i must fix Master Boot Record on my hdd.. ? I tryed in command prompt to fix that and it succesfully fixed! But, maybe is there other way to do that. I'm convinced that something like "volume" is needed to my hdd. I dont know what is it actually.. Reports: · Posted 3 years ago Top germ-x Posts: 5310 This post has been reported.
